Gypsum building - proven material

Very often, with various finishing works , a material such as construction gypsum is used. Even people far from repair and design know this name. For many centuries it is an ideal material for the reconstruction and repair of premises.

Very finely ground construction gypsum does not create a difference between new and old wall coverings and ceilings. It has an excellent structure and does not crack. Work with gypsum begins with mixing it with water. With the right consistency, this material fills the fissures perfectly and takes the form of even small parts.

Gypsum building has a porous structure, therefore, all surfaces treated with this material are able to absorb sound waves well, thus ensuring sound insulation of the room. The white color of this material makes it possible to use it without additional staining wherever the ideal whiteness of the coatings is required.

How to get this building material? A natural gypsum stone having a crystalline structure is treated at high temperatures. In this case, there is a loss of ¾ of the water contained in it, and the mineral itself turns into a hemihydrate, which when mixed with water again takes the structure of a natural stone. Since no more than 1% of other organic substances are added to natural material in the production of gypsum, it is environmentally friendly for humans and animals. This building material is refractory, therefore plays a big role in protecting the premises from fire. In addition to all the above properties, it is able to absorb excess moisture in the room when it rises and give moisture when its level is lowered.

Gypsum produces several varieties. Ordinary building materials are used for the manufacture of gypsum-concrete and gypsum products, dry plaster, panels and partitions, gypsum-lime plaster solutions. High-strength molding gypsum is produced by special mechanical processing of ordinary building material, subjecting it to cleaning and additional grinding. From it make stucco molding and other decorative products for interiors and facades. Gypsum building is divided by the time of its hardening: 2-15 minutes - fast-setting; 6-30 minutes - normally grasping; Over 20 minutes - slowly seizing.

The strength of this material is determined by its grades, which differ in the limit of its compressive strength (G-2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 15, 10, 19, 16, 22, 25). Gypsum grade G-10, 16, 15 is considered molding. Such material is practically free from impurities and is highly durable.

When working with this material, remember that it quickly freezes, so do not immediately prepare a large amount of dissolved gypsum. The amount of water required to produce a mixture of normal density is generally 50-80% (for construction work) and 35-45% for the creation of various products. Excess water can remain in the pores of the hardened material, after which it evaporates. As a result, the porosity of the building gypsum will be about 50-60%. It is important to remember that the less water is used to dilute gypsum, the denser the finished product or coating will be and the denser its strength. The rise or fall of temperature does not have a good effect on the strength of the solidified material. To increase the strength of building gypsum, about 5% of slaked lime is sometimes added to it .

For use in medical purposes, the so-called polymer gypsum is produced, which is easily applied to the injured body of the patient with a bandage. It perfectly repeats the contours and possesses increased extensibility. This material has an increased porosity, so the human skin continues to breathe freely, which prevents itching. Sometimes such bandages are imposed so that patients can perform some movements. This material does not interfere with medical procedures and X-ray examination.
