Error 0x0000007b (Windows 7 at startup)

Every user knows about the blue screen of death, or BSoD (blue screen of death). Many people think that this is one mistake, meaning the termination of the operating system, which is treated only by reinstallation. However, few people know that such errors are labeled differently in accordance with the reason for the failure of the system. A vivid example of this is 0x0000007b Windows 7 at boot time.

Get acquainted closer

You can see the error number at the very end of the text on the blue screen. It will look like this: stop 0x0000007b. This code tells the computer what the reason for the occurrence of BSoD is. This code indicates that the operating system Windows 7 could not access the system partition during the initial boot. And this means that the problems can be the following:

  • The driver responsible for the primary OS boot from the hard disk is missing or damaged;
  • Incompatibility or problems in hardware;
  • Data in the Windows registry about the drivers responsible for booting the system are corrupted;
  • The boot sector of the driver responsible for booting the system is infected or removed by the antivirus.

As you can see, BSoD 0x0000007b in Windows7 and XP can arise for different reasons, and all of them are in different areas of the computer system. Therefore, in order to more accurately identify the cause of the malfunction and make up the subsequent "treatment", it is necessary to consider each problem separately.

Stop 0x0000007b due to hardware incompatibility

Now a lot of computers and laptops are equipped with the ability to expand various hardware (operating card, video card, hard disk). In order for the additional detail to sit like a flush and not create problems, you need to check its compatibility with the motherboard. Some do not, after which the new part does not allow the computer to start, and BSoD error stop 0x0000007b in Windows.

This problem is solved as follows. First of all, the death screen should appear after the connection of a new hardware component. To check the incompatibility, you must remove this part, and then restart the computer. If everything is normal, then the problem is in it. In case if several connected parts (for example, the computer was assembled in parts), then you need to take out each one in turn (if, of course, there are paired ones) until the computer starts.

If nothing helped, do not disassemble everything and throw it into the garbage, because the problem 0x0000007b of Windows 7 can be hidden in the system when booting.

Driver malfunction

The problem can be found in the device drivers that are responsible for the initial boot of the operating system. For example, the old hard drive was replaced with the one you just bought, and then there was a bug 0x0000007b Windows 7 at boot. Or the inoperative screw from the old computer was moved. At the same time the system for some reason did not switch or install the driver on a new device.

We solve this problem in this way. We return the old hard drive to the place, then on the hard drive that we want to install, we download the driver package. Next, install the boot disk or USB flash drive with these drivers using any of the programs (Alcohol 120, UltraISO, Nlite, etc.). We put an unidentified hard disk on its future place. Having started the computer, we go in the BIOS and put the drive or USB flash drive in the first place in the priority of the loaded devices (it should be in the BOOT menu). Next, run the driver installation from the disk. After installing the driver, we reboot the computer and work. Now the error loading Windows XP 0x0000007b and booting Windows 7 should disappear.

Problem with antivirus

Sometimes it happens that the antivirus program takes an important operating system file for a virus or spyware program. Then it blocks it or deletes the infected object. As a result, a surprised PC user asks the question: "Error 0x0000007b, can not load Windows - how to be?" In this case, too, reinstalling the driver, but where is the guarantee that the antivirus will not delete it again?

It is best to proceed as follows. Turn on the computer and press F8 before operating the OS. In the list that appears, select "Last good configuration". After the operating system has booted, you need to disable the antivirus and roll back the system until the important file is deleted. This is done as follows: "Start - All Programs - Standard - System Tools - System Restore". Next, the saved configuration is selected by date and restoration is done. When everything returns to normal, you will have to replace the antivirus program or at least add the Windows folder to the exceptions.

The trouble in the register

Error 0x0000007b Windows 7 at boot can occur when replacing the old motherboard with a new one. The problem is that Windows, which resides on the hard drive, can not load the correct driver for the new motherboard. This problem is solved through the registry, and it is better to take care of it in advance, because without the motherboard it certainly will not be possible to start the computer.

Go to the Start menu and enter the name of the service "Run" in the search or press Win + R. In the line that appears, type regedit, and then get to the registry editor. Here we go the following way: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SYSTEM and delete (or better just rename) the MountedDevices folder. In the same System folder, go to CurrentControlSet - services, where we find the following sections: Amdsata, Amdide, Ayapi, Amdxata, Intelide, Pciide, Msahci.

In each such section we are looking for the Start document and changing the value to 0. After that we can safely change the motherboard, which should be able to earn without problems.

Error Diagnosis

Often happens that first the download occurs, error 0x0000007b when you boot Windows, and after a fraction of a second after that, the system reboots. Nothing good it does not, because without a blue screen it is impossible to diagnose the cause of a malfunction. But this function is easily turned off.

Click on "My Computer" with the right mouse button and go to "Properties". Then choose "Advanced System Settings". In the "Download and Restore" section, click "Options". A new window will open, where in the "System Failure" section from the "Run automatic reboot" box, uncheck the box. Now, during the crash, an error will appear instead of the reboot.

You can identify the error with the following information:

  • INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE - type of error. It is always written at the top of the screen in big letters through the bottom underscore.
  • STOP: 0x0000007b (...) - hexadecimal error code, is always at the bottom of the screen.

These two characteristics are sufficient to determine what the error is and how it can be solved.

Event Viewer

To understand why Windows 7 is not loaded, BSoD 0x0000007b has appeared and what to do with it, it is possible not only on the above information. Determine the causes of failures in the normal operation of the system can be done by viewing events. Find them is easy: "Control Panel \ Administrative Tools \ View Event Logs". Most likely, the type of event will be "Critical", where you can see the number of failures at different time intervals: the last hour, day, week. Clicking on the plus sign, you can expand the list, which will provide general information about the error. Clicking twice on the event, you will open a window with a detailed description of the problem by which you can draw some conclusions.

If the event recording function is disabled, you should enable it. We go into the already familiar properties of the computer in the additional parameters of the system. The window and partition are the same: "Download and Restore" and "System Failure". We put a tick in front of "Write events to the system log" and in the debugging information entry we set "Kernel Dump". You can also specify a file where events will be recorded.

Finally

It's worth remembering that the computer gives out errors for a reason, they need to be read, because correcting, without knowing what, is pointless and useless. And this case is no exception. Any BSoD error can be identified and eliminated in many ways, not just by reinstalling Windows.
