How to make "hard reset" on "Android"?

Do not worry if the smartphone with the Android operating system does not turn on or very slow, as you can reset to factory settings. How to make a "hard reset", you can find out below.

Why make a hard reset?

Hard reset is a special reboot, during which all settings are reset to the factory settings, and all information (even personal) is deleted. After it, the phone is crystal clear, as immediately after the purchase. This function is also called hardware reset, reset to factory settings, and hard reset.

It is worth noting that, before making a hard reset on Android, you need to back up all data from the internal memory of the phone, because it will not be possible to restore them.

Who thinks that this function is useless and even harmful, is very much mistaken. A hardware reset is only used if the phone can not be restored by normal applications and cleaning is impossible. It should be done if:

  • The phone began to think and load for a very long time because of a large load of RAM.
  • Because of the multiple installation and reinstallation of various applications, resulting in a huge amount of unnecessary information accumulated.
  • After obtaining root-rights, an important component of the operating system was deleted, because of what the smartphone began to work incorrectly.
  • Due to some kind of malfunction, the phone started to work incorrectly (constantly reboot, switch off automatically or not switch on at all).

Of course, after the "hard reset" is done, you need to configure, download, download and install the new one. But, in turn, the phone will work as it should, and will not slow down (at least, before it again loads a lot of different things).

How to make a hard reset?

You can reset the phone to the factory settings in several ways:

  • Through settings (soft reset);
  • With the help of Android system recovery (it is also called the engineering menu);
  • Through a special utility utility from the official developer (in the case when the phone does not turn on, and Android system recovery is not included or not provided at all).

Now consider how to make a "hard reset" by each of these methods.

Software reset

First of all you need to save all data from your phone. You can do this in many ways: create a backup and save it on a USB flash drive, connect to a PC and reset the data using special utilities, synchronize with your Google Account and so on. It is also desirable to reset all information from the flash drive and format it. This should be done, because when data is cleared, the key to decrypting the data is deleted. If, after making a "hard reset" on "Android", inserting a memory card, the phone will simply create a new file system on it, ignoring the old file tree. Physically, the data will remain there, but there will be no access to them.

Now we do the following: go to "Settings" of the phone, then to "Personal data" (depending on the version of the firmware, this item can be called "Accounts" or "Restore and reset"). Click on "Factory data reset".

Then - "Reset devices" and "Delete all." Done.

Reset via Android system recovery

This method is used in the event that the phone does not turn on or constantly reboots. Turn off the phone. The Recovery mode is turned on by pressing the power button, volume buttons and menus. How to make a "hard reset" using a combination of buttons? It all depends on the manufacturer:

  • Sony - charge the phone to the maximum (the bulb lights up green), disconnect from charging and press the clip on the button in a small hole. After the screen goes out, you need to hold down the power button for a few seconds and press the volume up a few times.

  • Samsung - clamp simultaneously the inclusion, the volume up and the menu. Use the volume buttons to move to "wipe data / factory reset", then "Yes - delete all data" and "Reboot now".

  • Nokia - clamp the power, volume down and the camera.
  • HTC - we squeeze both loudnesses, we press a little food. When "Alerts" appears, press the volume up.
  • ASUS - clamps the volume down and for three seconds - power, keep the volume. In the menu, select "Enter recovery mode". Next, the algorithm is the same as making a "hard reset" on the "Samsung".
  • Alcatel - clamp the volume up and power. Further - as in Samsung.
  • Acer - squeeze the volume up and power. Further - as in ASUS.

Reset the device from Sony

Sony Xperia devices have one problem: due to some kind of malfunction or an error in the system, when Bluetooth is turned on, the phone starts to reboot without interruption. At the same time, you can turn it off only by disconnecting the battery. And, because to make a "hard reset" to Sony via Recovery mode for some reason did not work, you can use a special utility utility PC Companion from the manufacturer. It must be on the computer if the phone has ever been connected to a PC.

We proceed as follows. Launch the PC Companion. Click "Start" in the Support Zone. In the field "Update phone software" also click on "Start". In the appeared window it is necessary to click on the highlighted inscription "phone recovery". From the list choose your model, and then follow the simple instructions.

But there is one nuance: the smartphone should be in the base of this program with the downloaded drivers, otherwise, before making a hard reset, the program will ask to perform several actions on the device for identification (omit-raise the curtain, etc.). It's clear, this will not work if it's off.

A few tips

Hard reset - the procedure is extremely responsible, so it's worth taking note of a couple of tips:

  1. Before making a hard reset on your tablet or phone, you need to back up all data (contacts, SMS, accounts, Wi-Fi passwords, etc.). Methods and tools for this are plentiful (if the device is turned on at all).
  2. It would be superfluous to make a backup copy of the files from the USB flash drive. At least because in the settings the button for cleaning the memory card is under the shutdown button. And, unintentionally confusing, you can lose important data.
  3. It is not necessary to install applications on the smartphone from unsafe sources in order to avoid problems with the system.
  4. It should be more careful to use root-rights, if they are received. Do not delete something that is not completely sure, and allow these rights to be used by different applications.
  5. If, for some reason, the reset to the factory settings is not possible, you can repair the phone by flashing the "Android". Contrary to popular belief, it is quite simple. It will take only an instructive instruction, hands and a bright mind.
