What does the error MEMORY_MANAGEMENT mean? MEMORY_MANAGEMENT - Windows 8.1 error. How to fix?

Probably, it is not necessary to say that unexpected loads can occur due to an excessive load on the operational and physical memory. One of these has the designation MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (error) and is accompanied by the appearance of a "death screen". Let's consider what this is related to, how you can try to correct such an unpleasant situation.

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (Windows error): what does it mean?

Let's start, perhaps, with the consideration of the interpretation of the meaning of this type of failure. That means the error MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, it is easy to guess, if you just translate the message displayed on the screen.

Roughly speaking, this is a certain problem arising in the process of memory management, its distribution, etc. The situation as a whole is quite unpleasant, since the appearance of such a message indicates the presence of some conflicts at the physical level of the interaction between memory (operational and physical) and the operating system.

Causes of a malfunction

Speaking about the reasons causing such failure, it is worth noting that they can be found very much. However, among the main ones, the following can be noted: virus infection, the failure of the memory boxes themselves, errors on the hard disk, overestimated power supply characteristics, and, finally, conflicts with drivers or the outdated BIOS firmware.

Here the system also gives the error MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. Let's consider each situation a little more in detail, and also we will define some universal ways of correction, so that in the future such malfunctions would not be repeated.

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (Windows 8.1). Error: how to fix the means of the system?

Let's talk at once: such a malfunction can occur in any Windows system, regardless of its modification. The "Eight" is taken solely as an example, and all the solutions applicable here can be quite simply used in other versions.

Since the failure itself is associated with memory, the first thing you can do is scan it. It is desirable to load the system in the so-called safe mode, then use the computer administration section called from the standard "Control Panel".

In the list of available tools, you should go down and select a method for testing the memory. After that, you need to use a system reboot, during which you will be fully tested. By results of scanning it will be possible to judge problems. If after that the screen with the message about MEMORY_MANAGEMENT failure (error plus "screen") appears again, there will be nothing else but how to change the bad memory slots. At the same time it is desirable to remove all of them from the slots first, and then insert them into place one at a time and check the operation of the computer. As soon as the failure occurs, you determine the "flying" bar, which you need to replace.

Using the Memory Test Program

Unfortunately, Windows own testing tools are often not as effective as we would like. It happens that the search for the cause of the failure does not lead to anything.

Therefore, to determine the problem as accurately as possible, it is best to use the specialized utility Memtest86 +, which works much better, and gives much more information on the damage.

Updating the BIOS and device drivers

Quite often, the MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error may appear in the event of a BIOS flashing conflict and the installed drivers. What to do in this case?

First, do not bother with the BIOS, but rather try to install "native" drivers, which should be on the original disk that comes with the purchase of the device. In extreme cases, if the user has a list of devices installed on his computer, you can try to download the latest drivers from the Internet. The system boot in this case must be performed from any Live CD or Windows installation disk.

You can do even easier if you originally use the Driver Pack Solution disk of the latest version. Its content can also be downloaded from the Internet, and then simply written to optical media on another computer terminal or laptop.

If you update the firmware BIOS, then you should be very careful. First, when you start your computer or laptop, you need to enter the BIOS and determine its version and developer. Only after this firmware can be found on the Internet. But best of all, if you do not have special knowledge, do not do it yourself, but use the services of some service center, otherwise, the whole system is, as they say, impossible to kill.

Scanning a Hard Drive

Another case when the screen BSoD MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (error) appears, is connected with presence of critical failures on the winchester. Of course, you need to check it. Here, only the standard test tool, called from the context menu's properties (right click on the letter of the disk), will not work here (even with the automatic correction settings enabled).

In this case, it's best to use a boot disk, after starting from which you need to call the command line. It prescribes the sfc / scannow command. Testing the hard drive can take a long time (it all depends on the volume of the hard drive), but in the end all crashes will be eliminated, and even the load will be restored.

Changing power settings

Finally, the appearance of a message with a string MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (error) may be due to improper power settings. In particular, this concerns the best performance mode, which can cause too much load on system resources.

In this case, go to the appropriate section and set, for example, a balanced mode (recommended for most computer systems) or a saving mode with reduced power consumption. Incidentally, most of the malfunctions associated with power supply schemes are observed on inexpensive laptops. Not only does the system itself consume a lot of resources, so also the optimization of programs and processes causes an additional burden.

Conclusion

As you can see, there can be a lot of reasons for MEMORY_MANAGEMENT failure. However, practice shows that the most common solution is to replace the memory slots, although some accompanying errors, for example, on hard disks or in logical partitions, can be eliminated quite simply. The issues of the effects of viruses were not specifically addressed here. But as a means of verification, you can advise one of such software products as Kaspersky Rescue Disk or something else. They are loaded even before the start of the system itself and they scan absolutely all of its elements, even identifying the threats that a normal scanner can skip.

Sometimes it may be necessary to remove the newly installed software - it may very well be that conflicts occur at this level. Maybe somewhere the contacts are dirty or just dirty, the loops are loosely adhering, there is a low voltage in the electrical system - yes, what else can there be. However, in order to make a decision on how to apply this or that method of correcting the situation, you first need to determine the root cause.
