What is the difference between antifreeze antifreeze and what is the essence of these concepts?

Each modern car is equipped with a cooling system, in which there is a liquid such as antifreeze. In some cases, instead of it motorists pour antifreeze into the expansion tank. In fact, the functions of both liquids are the same. However, why does the opinion arise that they can be used only on specific car brands? In this matter, we will try to understand today. So, what is the difference between antifreeze and antifreeze?

Composition of antifreeze

In fact, there are differences between them. But before you answer specifically to this question, let's get into the antifreeze. This name was taken for a reason. In Greek, "anti" means "against", "frieze" - from English "freeze". Literally this term means "coolant" for the engine of the car. That is, this material has the property of maintaining its viscosity at minus (-30-40 degrees Celsius) and extremely high (from 100 degrees) temperatures. That is why it is also called "anti-freeze".

If to be specific in the question of what distinguishes antifreeze antifreeze, it is worth noting that the latter is an aqueous solution of a thermally stable substance that can hold its properties for a long time at low temperatures. Its composition includes propylene glycol, glycerin, ethylene glycol and inorganic salts.

More about the antifreeze

And now about what is a tosol. This term was first mentioned in the 70s of the last century, when the first VAZ-2101 car came off the assembly line of the Volga Automobile Plant. With the development of the automobile industry, the requirements for cooling liquids in the USSR have significantly increased, so a new tool has been created to solve this problem, intended exclusively for use in VAZs, Volkhs and other domestic machines. In Soviet times, antifreeze was considered to be an improved modification of antifreeze. However, now the concept of "antifreeze" does not bear any semantic load in terms of composition and quality. This liquid contains absolutely the same components as in the "anti-freeze". The only difference between antifreeze and antifreeze is the production site. The first is manufactured exclusively in the countries of the former USSR. Antifreeze is considered to be an overseas product and is supplied to our countries as an imported product.

Quality

We all used to believe that everything imported (cars, their units and components, including the same "anti-freeze") is better than domestic products. However, in the case of tosol, such a notion as quality, largely converges with "overseas" antifreeze. Both that, and other goods are made with the conformity of all norms and requirements, with the addition of the same components. The only thing that can differ is the inscription on capacity, price and color (antifreeze is always blue, while the antifreeze can be red, green and even purple). However, in some cases, antifreeze may be defective or forged. This is usually a rarity, but foaming of the substance in the tank is highly undesirable, especially if the engine is at the extreme temperatures.

Therefore, in the question of how antifreeze differs from antifreeze, the conclusion is only one: the substances are the same in composition and properties and can be used absolutely on any car. However, overpaying for imported "anti-freeze", you reduce the risk of buying counterfeit. In Russia they still do not follow the standards of production like in Germany or Poland.
