Plastic kitchens: photo, reviews

Today everyone can create the kitchen of his dreams. And this applies not only to the general interior, walls, floors and ceilings. Nowadays you can choose any design of the facades of kitchen furniture - from a natural solid wood or its analogues (MDF, MDF), as well as plastic.

The first option, unquestionably, is very good, but has one significant drawback - high cost. Therefore, most consumers prefer plastic facades. And the reason for this choice is not only an affordable price. Modern plastic panels used in furniture production are a durable, high-quality material that does not require complex maintenance. In addition, such models, thanks to a variety of color solutions, perfectly fit into any interior.

We will look at various plastic kitchens. Photos, owner reviews you can see in this article.

Plastic facades

What is the facade made of plastic for a kitchen set? This panel is covered with a layer of plastic, which allows not only to decorate furniture, but also to protect it reliably. As a rule, for the production of such facades, a particleboard or a more high-quality and durable material, MDF, is used. It is easier to handle, which eliminates the appearance of defects in production.

Facade panels are covered with two types of plastic :

  • CPL (roll).
  • HPL (leaf).

Rolled plastic, in its technical characteristics, resembles a PVC film, but it is more dense, resistant to mechanical damage.

Sheet plastic is a particularly hard material. It is recognized as the best option for facades, as it has good characteristics: resistance to negative factors, high density. Differences in these materials affect the cost of the finished product. Such facades refer to the middle price segment. Therefore, plastic kitchens today are very popular and in demand.

How is the plastic applied?

This process occurs under the influence of high pressure and temperature. Due to this, the color is "absorbed" into the slab layer. In the same way, diffusion of the surface of the plate and film occurs, which ensures maximum adhesion.

Advantages of plastic facades

First of all it is necessary to say about the rich choice of external design of plastic panels, which is very important for the owners. A huge number of tones and textures truly pleases. You can create original variants simulating a tree or a stone, graphic or vegetative patterns. Moreover, admirers of futuristic ideas for home or hi-tech style today can use colored chameleons or metallized facades that change color at a certain angle.

Such plastic kitchens, photos of which can often be seen in manufacturers' catalogs, decorate any room and emphasize your exquisite taste. Most consumers, besides the appearance of plastic facades, care about their practicality. Experts are sure that there are no worthy competitors for this parameter.

This is due to a number of reasons:

  1. Increased strength, which guarantees no defects and cracks during operation. Thanks to the special technology of applying plastic on MDF boards, a high moisture resistance is achieved. This contributes to the fact that the upper part under the influence of moisture does not exfoliate.
  2. High durability puts plastic kitchens in the first place among other analogues. With proper care, such a kitchen will not change its appearance even after ten years.
  3. The preservation of the surroundings is facilitated by the thermal stability of the material and the absence of its reaction to ultraviolet radiation.
  4. Unlimited design possibilities. In addition to a rich selection of textured and color solutions, plastic facades can be made in any shape - figured, curved oval, radial, etc.
  5. Even the matte and textured surface of plastic has a slight luster.

disadvantages

Despite the obvious advantages, plastic facades also have drawbacks, which must be taken into account before purchasing a set of furniture.

  • Regardless of the texture of the material, fingerprints can remain on the surface of the facades. Especially this issue is relevant for families with young children. In this case, we recommend to think about other options, otherwise you will spend all your free time polishing boxes and lockers.
  • Some designs of kitchen facades have a significant disadvantage - the center effect can show the effect of the depressed surface. This visual distortion is usually observed on plates that are manufactured by cold pressing.

However, the excellent appearance and quality characteristics of these materials easily cross out all the shortcomings.

Plastic corner kitchens

The location of the kitchen furniture angle is particularly convenient when the room has a square shape or a small area. In the second variant, this arrangement of furniture allows creating a comfortable and ergonomic space, using a free space in the corner, using existing niches.

The surprising plasticity of polyvinyl chloride allows not to be limited to straight angles. Plastic kitchens can have soft smooth shapes, including concave ones, which are now preferred by many housewives, especially if the kitchen area is very small. The convenient arrangement of shelves and cabinets in the corner set allows you to place all the necessary kitchen utensils. This gives the hostess a chance to leave the maximum working space.

Black and white kitchens

The range of color scales of plastic kitchens is wide. Help to orientate in how different plastic kitchens look, photo. Black and white models, in our opinion, are the most stylish option. And, judging by the feedback, we are not alone in our opinion. Many people think that such kitchens look so refined and festive, that in such a room it's just a pity to cook.

In reality, black and white models are practical and convenient. That's why millions of people around the world prefer this particular option. This is a great solution if you prefer a high-tech style. Black and white plastic kitchens (photo you can see in this article) make a boring, boring room stylish and modern. When buying such a kitchen, do not be afraid that you will not be missing flowers - the combination of white and black looks very impressive.

Plastic kitchen with own hands

We have already said that high-pressure laminated plastic is used to finish the facades of kitchen furniture. Most often it is labeled HPL. Making plastic doors for furniture in the kitchen can significantly reduce costs. If you manage to master the subtleties of this technology, then the arrangement of the kitchen will cost you three times cheaper than the order from professionals.

Where to begin?

First, it is necessary to cut out the blank of the desired size from the MDF sheet, adding about 20 mm in width and in length. The workpiece must be well cleaned of sawdust and dust and wipe dry. On the surface of the workpiece a thin even layer of glue is applied. If you are not too hasty, use PVA, if you need to make a façade quickly, you will need "Kleiberite".

On the workpiece on top, place the plastic of the required size and roll it with a rubber roller, then place it under the press until the glue polymerizes. When it completely dries, you need to get it out from under the press - you can start cutting the edge (should be 3 mm less than the original size).

The ends of the workpiece are milled, it makes grooves for the installation of the aluminum profile. Your door is almost ready - it remains to install an aluminum profile along the perimeter of the facade. To do this, the end profile must be cut to the size of the workpiece, then saw the ends at an angle of 45 degrees. In the groove we apply glue. In this case, you can use PVA or "liquid nails".

Set the profile in the profrezed groove and gently tap with the mallet until complete installation. When the profile is pasted, pencil the joints of the aluminum frame with a file.

Owner feedback

Most buyers are satisfied that they have purchased plastic kitchens. Furniture, according to them, looks very modern, does not need complicated maintenance, is not afraid of moisture and temperature drops. In addition, the cost of such kits is quite affordable.

The only drawback of such models is considered by many to be remaining traces from hands, especially on a glossy surface. But this defect is easily eliminated with a soft cloth and detergent.
