Description, prices, photos, address and mode of operation of the Moscow Zoo. Dolphinarium in the Moscow Zoo

"Living museum in the open air" - this was how his creator, one of the founders of the oldest zoo in Russia, Professor Anatoly Bogdanov, called his creation. In the year of the discovery, in 1864, it was a small zoological garden where the animals collected in one wall were to undergo tough conditions for survival in the difficult climatic conditions of Russia.

History

The operating mode of the Moscow Zoo was immediately built in order to receive as many visitors as possible. At that time, the annual figure reached 10 thousand people.

After all, funds for the maintenance of three hundred representatives of the fauna, in the first place, came from collections. Financial assistance was provided both by individuals and by the contributions of the imperial court. But, since the purpose of creating the zoo was not only entertaining, but also scientific, the funds were sorely lacking. The animals had to be fed, landscaped cages and aviaries.

At that time, the Russian Imperial Society, which was responsible for the zoo, saving the institution from ruin and debts, transferred it to private hands. The times of the Ryabinkin brothers' leadership were sad. Forgetting about any scientific research, they squeezed out of the zoo everything possible, forcing to function exclusively for entertainment purposes. As a result, the situation only worsened. Salvation came in the person of the Society for the Acclimatization of Animals and Plants. Individuals also joined the financing.

The Moscow Zoo has experienced many tragic moments in the history of its existence. The revolutionary events of the beginning of the last century brought ruin, the library burned down, animals were killed. The national heritage of the zoo became only after the events of 1917. He took the city council for maintenance, which contributed to the further successful development. The territory was increased, many new inhabitants appeared. And in 1926 the place became known as the Zoological Park. It was a good time for scientific and educational work. Laboratories were opening, where scientists conducted research. A biological circle was created for children at the zoo. Landscaped territories were accepted by a large number of visitors who could admire and communicate with animals on the "Island of Beasts" (this is one of the notable buildings on the territory).

Field lectures

The convenient mode of operation of the Moscow Zoo made it possible to organize large excursions for schoolchildren. However, the employees decided to go further, to the people. And for the first time in the world practice they began to conduct visiting lectures in general education institutions with the participation of zoo inhabitants. In the pioneer camps, the scientific staff was eagerly awaited, and the word "lecture" was not associated with boredom. During the Great Patriotic War the zoo did not close and continued to receive visitors. Over four years, more than six million people have been here.

In the postwar years, international relations began to develop actively. The zoo entered the system of the Central Administration of Culture. The number of inhabitants was significantly increased, from acquaintances to the most exotic individuals.

The year 1991 was a sign. By that time, many buildings were in a deplorable state and required repairs. By order of the head of the capital, a large-scale reconstruction began. The old structures were restored, the territory of the zoo expanded again. For visitors a pedestrian bridge was built, which finally gave an opportunity, without leaving the territory of the zoo and crossing the Bolshaya Gruzinskaya street, from one part to another. Many new aviary enclosures have been installed for birds of prey, which not only live here, but also bring new offspring.

"Island of Beasts"

The famous "Island of Beasts" was also reconstructed. Its distinctive feature has always been the design and conditions of pets, which are as close as possible to their natural habitat. Permanent registration on the island has Himalayan bears, Amur tigers, for the increase in individuals which are being battled around the world, as well as striped hyenas. "New settlers" - Asian lions - came here for permanent residence of their Helsinki and British Chester. The upper floor of the island is reserved for the Exotarium.

Walking along the zoo, it was always pleasant to rest at the pond, to admire the flamingos and other feathered inhabitants. At the pond, work was also carried out to improve the conditions. An aviary for penguins, a special "House of Birds", a new pavilion for elephants were built and landscaped. For children, the Children's Zoo is open. Opened a large pavilion for monkeys, which here with a dozen species.

Animals and birds

The work of the Moscow Zoo during the reconstruction was not interrupted, just some sections were closed. Now there are so-called "Old" and "New" territories. In the first was built housing for tropical "cats" - smoky leopards and jaguars. And on the "New" have arranged pavilions for cloven-hoofed guests from Africa: zebras, giraffes, antelopes. Not far from them, on the shore of the reservoir, a winter garden is divided, where representatives of fauna from Indonesia are located. Unique feathered twins greet guests. Here you can see handsome pelicans, unusual carnivorous pigeons, waders, ibises.

Divisions

The only thing that remained unchanged when the Moscow Zoo was reconstructed was the address: Moscow, ul. Bolshaya Gruzinskaya, 1. Today the general exposition is divided into separate subdivisions, among which:

Dolphinarium

Dolphinarium in the Moscow Zoo just over a dozen years ago is located between the "House of Birds" and "Elephant". His stands during the performances are not empty. In the troupe of actors polar whales, seals, sea lions and darlings of the public are Black Sea dolphins. They are talented and even come up with numbers for the program.

One of the youngest artistes - walrus Jeanne - is curious and grasps everything on the fly. However, coaches sometimes find it difficult to cope with her pranks. Sea lioness Masha has a wayward character and can even refuse to speak. Sweet couple - Button and Zipper - more than once saved the situation, replacing other artists and stepping onto the stage up to five times for one performance. Seals are the smallest local inhabitants. Belukha Platon and Julia, the dolphins Elli and Filya are experienced participants in the show. They literally can get out of any situation.

Show program and ticket prices

Show programs in the Dolphinarium are held daily, except for weekends - Monday and Tuesday. Basically, the schedule is the same as the mode of operation of the Moscow Zoo. In the summer, artists give more performances. By the way, in the warm season, approximately from May to November, they pass under the open sky. And in winter the site is closed by a special canopy. Guests can not only see colorful shows, but also take pictures with the dolphinarium artists. Tickets for performances are purchased separately from the entrance to the Moscow Zoo, prices for adults are 200 rubles, for children (up to 17 years) - only 50 rubles. The same cost is available for pensioners and invalids, for families with many children. There is a souvenir shop where you can buy photos of artists and other memorabilia.

The zoo offers a lot of pleasant entertainment. Children are happy to ride a pony. Everyone will enjoy the feeding of animals, the meal schedule can be viewed on the website or on information boards located on the territory. The staff will conduct fascinating excursions, interesting lectures about our younger brothers.

Recently, each person alone or an organization can become for some animals guardians, whose honorary duties include partial payment of food and maintenance. It is enough to choose a cute pet and make a contract with the zoo. A special certificate is issued to the guardian.

Pony Club

For children there is organized "Pony Club". In its way it is the only organization in Russia that works in a sports-theatrical direction. The club already has more than one and a half thousand graduates. Children from 6 to 12 years take part in theatrical performances at the largest city events. Pupils win prizes at competitions.

Working hours

The mode of operation of the Moscow Zoo has not changed for many years. Visitors are expected daily, except Monday, from 10.00 to 20.00 in the summer and from 10.00 to 17.00 in the winter. Ticket offices stop selling tickets one hour before the time when the Moscow Zoo is closed.
