Some general tips on how to draw a dove. The fact that birds draw is not so simple. If you do not have experience in drawing a bird, take its image, which will be checked during work. It would also be good to look at the bird when walking, trying to capture the features of the structure and proportions of its body. This will help you better understand how to draw a dove. Thus, by training, watching and trying to accurately copy birds, even without knowing the structure of their skeleton, which for artists is certainly important, you can gradually create very interesting drawings of these beautiful creatures.

Today we will look at how to draw a dove.

We begin with the generalization of nature. The body of a dove has the shape of an elongated oval. Therefore, we draw the axis of the sheet and place an oval figure symmetrical about the axis.
We draw the axis of the obtained oval shape.

Now we need to find the proportions of the pigeon's body parts. For the unit of measurement it is convenient to take the size of the bird's head: the length of the trunk is equal to about 7 lengths of the head, the length of the neck is one, the distance from the neck to the upper part of the wing is approximately half a head, and so on. Pay attention to the ratio of the head and the wing of the dove, as well as its legs. All the measured dimensions of the body parts of the bird are marked with short lines perpendicular to the axis of its shape.

We begin to detail the picture of the bird. We draw the head in the form of an oval, we plan an eye and a beak, we estimate the arrangement of wings, paws and tail. Pay attention to the relative position of the eye and beak. Track how the wing lies, pay attention to the distribution of small soft feathers and larger feathers.

Perhaps, the development of feathers will take you quite a long time, because you will need to draw each feather. Feathers should be elongated, at the top of the wing they are thin and smaller, and at the bottom are large ones. After the work with the basic feathers is finished, we plan the pads, soft feathers on the breast, stomach and on the hips.

How to draw a dove to make it on a sheet of paper, as if alive? Hatching and shading will help us. First we need to determine the direction from which the light on our pigeon falls. We start work from the darkest places of the bird's drawing, then easily shade the light ones. The strokes are superimposed, repeating the shape of the trunk, the wing, the bird's body. It is very convenient for light, shallow shadows to impose an "edge" of honed lead.

Do not forget that on the eye of the bird you need to leave a bright flare.
Next, we detail the beak, feathers, paws, claws, strengthen the shadows. The finishing touches and drawing are ready.
