Cyst in the head - the causes

A cyst in the head is quite common in medical practice. This is not an oncological disease, which is a cavity in which, as in a vial, liquid accumulates. It can be formed in any area of the brain, in single or plural, from one or both sides simultaneously.

Types of cysts in the head

The arachnoid cyst is a vial of fluid formed between coalesced rows of the medulla, in all cases it is located on the surface of the brain. The cause of its appearance may serve as a hemorrhage, inflammatory process in the meninges or transferred injuries.

In the event that the pressure of the formed fluid exceeds the index of intra-head pressure, there may be a squeezing of the cerebral cortex, which will lead to a number of unpleasant symptoms.

The intracerebral or cerebral cyst in the head - the fluid accumulates in the place of the dead part of the brain, that is, fills the space of the lost volumes of the brain substance. Located in the thickness of the brain.

The cause of the death of the plots in this case should be clarified. The main reasons for the formation of cerebral cyst injuries, stroke, insufficient intracranial circulation, encephalitis, surgical interventions in the cranial cavity.

Symptoms

The symptoms depend on the underlying disease that affected the cyst formation. All of them are very diverse and optional. Basically, the cyst in the head in an adult is determined by the presence of the following symptoms: pain, a feeling of compression and ripple in the head, tinnitus with hearing loss, hearing impairment, visual disturbances, partial paralysis of the limbs, episodic loss of consciousness, imbalance, epilepsy.

Causes of growth of formations

The cyst in the head is easily controlled by computer or magnetic resonance imaging. If there is an increase in size over time, then the brain continues to react to the actual damage factor. In this case, it is necessary to identify the cause of the disease and to conduct the necessary treatment.

The growth of the arachnoid cyst is affected by:

  • Increased fluid pressure in the cyst;
  • Progressive inflammation of the membranes of the brain (infection, arachnoiditis);
  • Concussion of the brain with a previously formed cyst in the patient.

The causes of the growth of the intracerebral cyst (as well as the appearance of new formations):

  • Continuation of intracranial circulatory disturbance, which creates new foci of micro-strokes;
  • Continuation of the process of destruction of the brain substance (neuroinfection, multiple sclerosis and encephalomyelitis).

The causes of the formation of newborns are:

  • Head trauma at birth (miscarriage of the mother during labor, improperly provided obstetric care), which can lead to intracranial hemorrhage;
  • Infectious diseases and inflammations obtained in the womb.

Diagnostics

Modern medicine easily identifies the causes of the emergence and growth of formations. For this, the patient is examined with the appointment of MR tomography, blood analysis and blood flow in the vessels. On the results obtained, further treatment is under construction.

A cyst in the head of a newborn is easily diagnosed by ultrasound. Performing an effective survey is promoted not yet overgrown fernike newborn and undisplaced bones of the skull. In most cases, the cyst in the head goes to one-year-old age.

Treatment

Violations of intracranial circulation are treated by three components: normalizing blood pressure, lowering cholesterol in the blood, reducing blood coagulability. At the same time, the following are appointed:

  • Antioxidants, which increase the resistance of cells to increased intracranial pressure;
  • Nootropic drugs that provide cells with glucose and oxygen.

Surgical treatment of cysts with surgery can be performed in three ways:

  • Trepanation of the skull with further removal of the formation. This is the most radical, but also the most traumatic method of treatment;
  • Shunting, where a tube is inserted into the formed cavity, through which a gradual evacuation of the formation takes place, which contributes to the decline and further overgrowth of the walls. The disadvantage of the method is the too long finding of a drainage tube inside the skull. This can lead to unwanted infection of the cavity;
  • Endoscopic operations - are performed through punctures with further emptying of the cavity. This method allows to minimize the possibility of complications and quickly recover after the operation. The only disadvantage of the method is that the cyst in the head is not always available to guide the device.
