Coprogram. What is this analysis and how should it be handled?

With the advent of the child's home, his parents are faced with the need for regular visits to the pediatrician and the delivery of a variety of tests. Analyzes such as the surrender of blood or urine, as a rule, do not cause unnecessary questions and difficulties. And if you need to pass an analysis called a coprogram? What is it and how to take it? Let's look at this issue.

Coprogramme - what is this?

A coprogram is nothing but an analysis of feces, which includes the study of its physical and chemical properties, microscopic analysis. Stool examination is extremely important in case of diseases of the digestive system, as well as for the diagnosis of their work. Cal is the final product and result of the digestive system. Its formation occurs gradually, as the food moves through the digestive organs. That is why this or that indicator of the coprogram may indicate that the individual elements of the chain are not working efficiently. In itself, the feces consist of a large number of bacteria, small undigested food residues, mucus, individual pigments that give it color.

How to collect material for analysis

The collection of feces for analysis has several nuances, especially if a coprogram is given to the baby. It is necessary to purchase in advance a special sterile container with a spoon in the pharmacy, which feces are taken. The analysis will not be reliable if the defecation has been caused medically or the child has taken any medication in the past 24 hours. The most reliable results will be given by morning feces, but on condition that it will be delivered to the laboratory within two hours from the time of emptying. It must be remembered that you can not collect feces by directly tearing off the diaper, since in this case the particles of the material can get into the container and significantly distort the final result. Also, do not scrape the feces from the body of the baby, for in that case particles of the epithelium can enter the assay.

Analysis of the analysis

So, we passed an analysis called a coprogram. What does this give us? The result of the analysis contains a lot of valuable information, it is easy to decipher, based on the normal values of the following indicators:

  • Quantity - 15-20 g, single portion.
  • Consistency is viscous.
  • Color - yellow, possibly with interspersed green.
  • The smell is a bit sour.
  • The reaction is acidic.
  • Bilirubin, stercobilin - are present.
  • Soluble protein - not detected.
  • The pH level is from 4.8 to 5.8.
  • Muscle fibers, neutral fat, fatty acids, soaps, mucus, leukocytes - are single.

However, it should be noted that these normative values are characteristic only of children who are completely breastfed. In the case when the child is already receiving a lure or is fed a mixture, the analysis of the coprogram may be slightly different. In any case, even if all the indicators correspond to the norm, the result should be shown to the pediatrician for obtaining the maximum interpretation.

So, we learned that the work of the digestive system can be judged on the basis of an analysis called a coprogram. What does this mean? At a minimum, it is recommended that small children receive at least once in 3-5 months such an analysis for timely diagnosis of possible diseases.
