Careers of the Moscow region: description, the most popular deposits

Sand is considered a cheap and harmless material that is used for construction. And there are a lot of stocks. There are quarries of the Moscow region, which are used to extract sand. He hides under a layer of soil, so to get to it, you need to open this barrier. The cost of sand can depend on the technique that was used to extract it, from loading, from the type of operation that was performed. In addition, the sand is also produced underwater, for which special pumps are used.

Basically, the sand that was given to the careers of the Moscow region, contains stones and clay. Even in this form, this material is used, but for construction it is sieved or washed.

Sand processing methods

Sand quarries of the Moscow region usually provide material that should be processed for further production. Separate its types:

  1. Washed sand. After the material was loaded, brought, it should be cleaned of stones and clay. In this case, this method is used. Subsequently, the resulting material is used for screeding floors, plastering, finishing works, as well as for reinforced concrete products. It can sometimes be packed in bags.
  2. Seared sand. This method produces material for laying bricks, asphalt or concrete mixtures. It is harvested in large volumes, which are called screenings. Then they are used to fill the concrete. If there is a presence of larger particles, then such sand is taken for brick or stone.

The most famous locations

Sand quarries of the Moscow region are very rich in different types of mined materials. The most interesting are limestone and phosphorous quarries. They are quite old, since even deposits of the Carboniferous and Jurassic periods (in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic Era, respectively) are found here. For several centuries there has been sand mining, which is given to the careers of the Moscow region. Basically, the resulting limestone is used for further production of cement or road gravel.

Such deposits are in the southeast of the Moscow region, namely - in the area of Yegoryevsk and Voskresensk.

Description of quarries

We have already found out what quarry provides. The Moscow region is saturated with points where it is possible to extract such material. Basically, they are all up to 5 km long, resemble a stepped trough. There is a special excavator that rides on rails. It removes the rock band, and the length of the cut is about 50 m. They all fall into the dump. Then the procedure is repeated in the opposite direction. Thus, in the end, there remain huge dumps, which are located in parallel. In Voskresensk there are phosphorite quarries. The sand here is black in color. Such places are a paradise for connoisseurs of stones.

Several famous open-cast mines in the Moscow region

Careers of the Moscow region are constantly expanding. After all, sand is needed for people who are engaged in construction. There are several famous places that are saturated with sand:

  1. Sychevsky sand pit. It is located in the Volokamsky district, from Moscow it is required to travel 90 km to get to this place.
  2. Malkinsky sand pit. It is located not far from Pyatigorsk, namely - for 35 km from it.
  3. Bogaevsky sand pit. This place is considered very famous. The material that was obtained here, provided not one building in the capital. This quarry is located in a small village of Oreshki, Ruza district.

Interesting deposits

The map of the quarries of the Moscow region is rich in various deposits. In the Ramenskoye region is the Chulkovsky quarry. Near it there is Eganovskoe deposit, which provides glass sands. These two places are very similar, they seem to complement each other. In this area is a group of quarries, where there are different deposits, namely:

  • Carboniferous;
  • Lower Cretaceous;
  • Neogene;
  • The Upper Jurassic.

These places are rich in Oxford clays. To open them, you have to penetrate to a depth of 2.5 m. Quartz-glauconite sands are distinguished by appearance among the others. They have a greenish tint, they are small grains, they contain clay.

In addition, brown coal is mined in the quarries of the Moscow region. For example, in Zaoksky areas. Known are the quarries in Serebryanoprudsky and Serpukhov districts, which are rich in iron ores, as well as titanium.

Eganovskoe deposit is a source of quartz sand. They are covered with morainic clays, alluvial loams, and sandstones with different grains throughout the terrain. This layer reaches up to 7 m. In addition, there is another popular quarry that represents nodular phosphorites. This is the Yegoryevskoye deposit. It is very large.

So, the Moscow region is full of quarries, which are sources of sand, so necessary for construction.
