Candidiasis in men

Candidiasis in men - a disease of the urogenital tract, which is characterized by rapid growth and reproduction in the genital area and the urethra of fungi of the genus Candida. Accordingly, a vivid clinical picture, characteristic of yeast-like fungi, is formed.

Like women, like men, candidiasis is a very dangerous infection, which can occur with a number of complications. Urogenital candidiasis is common in men. Often this process develops sharply, after sexual contact with an infected woman.

However, for the development of candidiasis in men, one of the factors is necessary:

  • Immunosuppressive status (viral infection, HIV, pathology of the endocrine glands or congenital immunodeficiency);
  • Contact with an infected person, recent medical manipulation or surgery;
  • Long-term use of antibacterial drugs;
  • Decrease in general resistance of body tissues to infections;
  • Beriberi and malokalorionnoe food.

Candidiasis in men manifests itself clinically somewhat differently than candidiasis in women.

Often there is a development of inflammation (balanitis) and superficial candidiasis of the penis. This process is formed a few hours after contact with an infected woman. Such a candidiasis can be called "conjugal" among the people. Running balanitis more often in three forms: erosive, film or blotchy-bubble. When removing the gray film from the penis, there is a bloody pink spot on it, which is covered with a crust. Sores and cracks can form.

The head of the penis looks slightly swollen and hyperemic. Candidiasis in men, whose causes can be attributed to sexual, often have a heavy current, because It is necessary to treat both partners and prevent sexual contacts, which does not happen in practice.

Candidiasis in men, which is manifested by balanitis, can be complicated by the attachment of a secondary pathogenic flora. This is due to the fact that against the background of candidiasis on the penis cracks and ulcers are formed, in which infection can get.

Candid urethritis is one of the most common symptoms of male candidiasis. Clinical signs of urethral involvement by fungi are reduced to unpleasant sensations during ejaculation. Itching and burning in the area of the penis and during the passage of urine may occur. From the urethra a white liquid of a viscous character is released. In this regard, candidiasis in men can be confused with acute gonorrhea.

Itching in candidiasis is sometimes so strong that men can not fall asleep, become irritable and nervous.

Cystitis, as a manifestation of candidiasis in men, is also a fairly common symptom. This is the so-called upward pathway of infection, when bacteria first enter the head of the penis, and then spread to the bladder through the urethra, and its inflammation occurs.

Candidiasis in men with clinical manifestations of cystitis is acute. There may be drawing pains in the lower abdomen. There are rezi and burning sensation when urinating. Patients are concerned about the frequent urge to urinate, which are false. Urine becomes a murky shade, there may be a flocculate sediment. Sexual intercourse becomes painful.

Candidiasis in men is diagnosed on the basis of a characteristic pattern and laboratory diagnosis data. In the blood of patients, a high titer of antibodies to fungi of the genus Candida is determined.

Treatment of candidiasis should be carried out in a complex manner. Both partners must necessarily undergo a course of treatment and control of cure after two weeks.

If candidiasis in men persists for a long time in the body and no treatment is carried out (or it is inadequate), then the transition of the disease into a chronic form is possible. As a result, a man may not notice clinical signs, but can infect his sexual partners.
