Butovite stone - an indispensable building material

Butovoy stone - one of the most ancient building materials. One copy can be up to 40 kg and up to 50 cm in size. It can be in the form of large pieces of irregular shape, yellowish or green-gray color. The source of extraction of this material is the territory of limestone, sandstone, dolomite, shell rock, other igneous and metamorphic rocks. Very rarely it is extracted from granite.

Three types of buta

There are three types of stone. Ragged - it is obtained as a result of blasting. Bedding - it is broken out of layered rocks. Plitnikovyy - it is extracted from metamorphic and sedimentary rocks, which have a shale structure. Plate rock quarry stone has the shape of a plate, however, very uneven. The same can be said about the bed rock stone. These slabs, despite their roughness, have the same qualities as the ragged appearance. But they are more convenient to use in construction, because they almost do not require additional costs when laying. Whereas in addition to the torn buta, other materials are required. To fill the voids that form during the laying, small pebbles and mortar are needed. Despite the fact that quarry stone is extracted by the method of blasting, certain requirements are applied to it. The structure should be homogeneous, free from clay and loose rocks, and should not have cracks or signs of stratification.

Main characteristics

Very strong stone. Its strength depends on where it was extracted: from light rocks, heavy sedimentary or igneous. Depending on this strength is measured in the range from 2 to 30 MPa. Another of the excellent properties of this stone is frost resistance. It must be at least 15 cycles. This means that the rubble stone was frosted and thawed at least 15 times and did not crumble and exfoliate, did not lose more than 5% in weight, and it can be used in construction. When striking with a hammer, the stone should make a sonorous sound. This indicates its high quality. Conversely, a dull sound means a large amount of impurities of clay and other rocks. Such a boot can easily be broken with a single blow of a hammer (weighing 1 kg), and it will crumble into rubble. Therefore, substandard material is processed into crushed stone. For concrete cladding, quarry stone is used, the price of which is significantly lower than the price of the same material intended for cladding.

Application in construction

The stone is well suited for laying the foundations of monumental buildings, hydraulic engineering and other engineering facilities. Brick rubble is also used for the construction of sedimentation tanks, reservoirs, sewer canals and buildings that will not be heated. In this case, the weight of the stone should not be more than 30 kg. Very large stones are pre-split with a sledge hammer into suitable pieces. A small fence can be laid out with dry mortar. Here, the fastening solution is not used. For a higher building, a binder solution is necessary. This is one of the most worthy building materials. Its price varies from 1500 to 20 000 rubles per ton. For each lot, documents are issued that indicate the source rock, the size of the pieces, the marks of frost resistance and strength.
