The water king in mythology, films and fairy tales for children

About who is a water king, what he has in common with Neptune, and what is the difference, this article will be discussed. Here, some fairy tales will be considered, in which there is such an interesting character as the water one.

Information from the Slavic mythology

In general, people from ancient times worshiped the water element. It was considered as necessary, as dangerous as it was. And this is so: the reservoirs are fed and watered, but very often they take the lives of careless people. Therefore, water - mythical creatures - was given great importance in antiquity. People endowed them with dual features of character, attributed to them actions that were also opposite.

More often the owner of rivers and lakes called simply - water. Tsar - this title was appropriated to him later by storytellers. This statement is proved by explanatory dictionaries, where it is considered such a name, untitled. In the same people, water names were assigned to a variety of names: Vodokrut, Vodopol, Pereplut. There were even special holidays in honor of him, birthday. On such days, commoners beguiled the owner of various waters with gifts, calling him gently grandfather.

Water and Neptune - is it the same thing?

In addition to Slavic mythology and Slavic tales, there is no water anywhere. Foreign authors preferred other characters, although similar to something in our water.

For example, Hans Christian Andersen tells in his famous "Little Mermaid" about the sea king. He also lives under water, controls all the underwater creatures. But if our mermaid is still subject to mermaids, then Andersen's character is the father of these mythical creatures.

There are works in foreign literature in which the gods Neptune or Poseidon take part. But they should not be identified with our water - they are absolutely different characters both in appearance and in character.

"Mary the Master", a film for children

The water king is one of the characters of many Russian fairy tales. That's why this image is often present in films for children.

This very interesting tale about the water king was filmed in 1960 by the director Alexander Arturovich Row. The plot of the film is based on the fact that a retired soldier in the woods meets Tsarevich Ivan, the son of Mary the masteress. And from the boy he learns that his mother is languishing at Vodokrut Thirteenth. The water king captivated the queen for the fact that she knew how painfully beautiful to embroider and sew.

The soldier helped the tsarevich to rescue his mother. But on the way the water king builds lifeguards to rescuers. The soldier is helped by different characters: an aunt who knows how to conjure Aunt A waitress, the cunning Kwak, sea pirates, Som Karpich, who has come out of simple frogs. An amazing underwater kingdom shows the viewer a fairy tale film, where there was a water-boy and a king-son, a soldier and Marya the masteress.

Perhaps, nothing would have happened to the soldier with Ivan, but the granddaughter of Vodokrut Thirteenth, Alyonushka, came to their aid.

It should be noted that the water king of the fairy tale "Mary the Master" is silly, preposterous and ridiculous. He is not at all like the powerful and powerful mythical characters of other countries - sea kings and gods of the water element.

Fairy tale for children about water

Once upon a time, there was a mother and a son in one village. It was hard for them to live, poorly. Son began to grow up - he began to try to help his mother. Every day he went fishing on the river.

And once he suddenly saw that in the networks it was entangled, whether the fish was large, or whether the beast was unseen with the fish tail. The captive pleaded, began to ask the young man to let him go into the river. And for that it promises the creature strange to fulfill any of his desires. Even the guy did not realize that the water king was floundering in his networks. I thought that just an unhappy animal accidentally got confused.

The young man smiled, unraveled the nets and released the beast's tail into the river. And he did not ask for anything in return. He returned home and told his mother a strange story.

"You are clever, my dear son!" It is impossible to take a fee for good deeds, - so his mother said kindly.

In less than two days, messengers from the side of the overseas came to the poor. They bowed to the poor people and said the following:

- In a distant kingdom-state, you will inherit a huge legacy, left by distant relatives. Do you go there yourself, or do you bring great riches here?

They asked the mother and son to bring everything they owe to the overseas ambassadors themselves - they did not want to leave their native land. And they themselves understood: it repaid water money for good. But in fact it was a test. It was not caught by the water in the network accidentally, but was specially entangled in order to make sure that the poor young man was kind and pure in his soul.
