STIK "Shtil": technical description and comparison with analogues

Modern domestic weapons in the form of STI "Shtil" is a multichannel launcher, oriented to ship-based, it is equipped with a vertical launch. The system is designed to implement the ship's circular defense, as well as to repel an enemy air attack, including mass rocket attacks. Used weapons also for circular defense and retaliatory attack on the enemy's massive missile strikes. In the future, the complex should replace existing analogues such as "Hedgehog" and "Hurricane". The system was developed by the designers of the Altair scientific research institute, and was presented in 2004 at the EuroNaval exhibition. We are also working on the development of improved ground-based analogs, consider their features and characteristics.

general description

STIK "Shtil" has an original and original design. The main element is a vertical module with a launcher type 3C-90E. If necessary, the ship can be mounted several modules, each of which includes twelve containers with missiles. Dimensions - 7,15 / 1,75 / 9,5 meters, allow to install it on ships having a minimum internal volume of the hull of 7.4 m. The complexes are arranged in six pieces in two rows. Such a solution makes it possible to accommodate a large amount of ammunition in a relatively small space.

The Shtil-1 air defense missile has dimensions that allow the Uragan missile system to be replaced with domestic destroyers. At the same time, the capacity and the stock of weapons almost doubles. Saving area and increase in ammunition is achieved due to the lack of additional mechanisms, such as a beam launcher and fixing its parts.

Features

The Shtil-1 air defense system has one more distinctive feature from the analogue "Hurricane". The rockets in it are located strictly vertically, due to which the complex launches shells with a break of not more than two seconds. The next volley is produced after the first missile leaves the launching point for several tens of meters. The system with a girder installation requires much more time to prepare and start.

The "Shtil" air defense missile uses a guided missile of the type 9-M317-ME. This is a modernized ammunition system "Beech". It is a single-stage rocket with solid fuel, which has the following dimensions:

  • The length is 5180 mm.
  • The diameter of the body is 360 mm.
  • Starting weight - 580 kg.

The tail part of the projectile is equipped with rudders with a span of 82 centimeters. The fragmentation part weighs 62 kilograms. The missile accelerates at a speed of about 1500 meters per second. The main difference from the predecessor is the way to start. In connection with this, several constructive additions have been applied. The projectile detonates after the command of the operator to a height of about ten meters above the deck of the ship, after which the ammunition is adjusted to the target side under the influence of the gas rudders. Then the march power system and the guide system are switched on.

STIK "Shtil-1": technical description

The complex under consideration includes rocket launchers and additional devices. There are no intrinsic detection systems, but there is a navigation option with the help of shipborne radar sections. Electronic equipment consists of a computing unit, a control panel, several transmitters and a highlight of the intended purpose. At the same time, up to twelve targets can be attacked. The complex can be mounted on any warships, does not require a special transformation or alteration of the structure.

STIK "Shtil" is installed on ships with a displacement of at least 1500 tons. The design of the plant makes it possible to base the complex on the swimming means of various projects. In addition, devices can replace outdated analogs. Such features foreshadow the future of the SAM.

Capabilities

Ship-borne missile system "Shtil-1" is equipped with missiles capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to fifty kilometers. In this case, the maximum speed of the proposed target can reach more than 800 meters per second. If you compare this system with the "Buk", then there is a presence of the main hardware equipment along with improved guidance and guidance systems, in which an important role is played by highlighting the object, which is planned to strike.

Several versions of the combat head were developed, depending on the type of target and the range of its location. For example, the "Shtil-M" air defense system can hit planes at an altitude of about 15 thousand meters. For cruise missiles, the figure is reduced by 2-3 times. Also, the radius of action to eliminate flying targets at low altitude is reduced by half from the maximum possible parameter.

"Shtil-2" air defense system

The technical description of this combat complex is given below:

  • The length / diameter of the rocket is 18.3 / 1.9 meters.
  • The payload is 1,87 cu. M.
  • Weight starting - 39.9 tons.
  • Type of ammunition - R-29RM.
  • Type of launch - ground or surface.

The "Shtil-2" air defense system consists of an aerodynamic fairing, a payload compartment, an adapter, a navigation and control unit, a skeleton. The aerodynamic fairing is made of a sealed enclosure, equipped with manholes for the installation of radio equipment.

The launch system of the complex includes a start and technical scheme, which has devices for auxiliary and main launch of the missile. The control unit consists of an automated node, in memory of which information is entered about the flight task, the distance to the target, other telemetric information, up to the measurements of the start parameters.

Testing

The "Shtil-1" air defense system and its ground analog on test tests showed such results:

  1. The possibility of launching from one set - at least 10 times a year.
  2. The launch of space vehicles with a minimum break of 15 days.
  3. Guaranteed communication in standby mode with high readiness to start.

Flight from the ground version provides formation of orbits in the limited space, about 60-77 degrees. When starting from the submarine, the range of latitudes varies from 0 to 77 gr. The slope of the rocket depends on the coordinates of the launching point, while the possibility of using the submarine for the intended purpose remains.

Anti-aircraft missile system "Polimen-Redut"

Development of the newest system for the fleet of the Russian Federation is conducted by the NGO Almaz-Antey. As the ammunition 9-M96 and 9-M100 anti-aircraft missiles are used. The development of the SAM under consideration has been carried out since 2011, however, due to different circumstances, the schedule of delivery was delayed.

This was due to the lack of a sufficient number of engineers and designers, most of which were involved in the development of land analogues of the complex. In this regard, the construction of frigates project 22350, which provided for the installation of new weapons, was also delayed. Considerable difficulties arose in the creation of a radar station "Poliment" with a phased array antenna. In combination with the missile for sea launching 9-M96, the complex is a full-fledged version of the Polimen-Redut SAM.

Testing

In the summer of 2014, an imitation of a cruise missile was struck by a salvo from the Redut air defense missile system. The launch was carried out from the side of the corvette "Sobrazitelny". This was the first successful test conducted in the Baltic Sea. Then the goals simulating the naval fleet of the conventional enemy were successfully amazed.

In the autumn of the same year, the complex was tested for damage to the air and surface targets of the alleged enemy. All the targets were eliminated. In 2015, the crew of the corvette "Sobrazitelny" successfully displayed the task of destroying enemy cruise missiles. At the same time, the volley was carried out in conditions of a difficult radar situation.

The high combat capabilities of the Redut SAM and the Shtil SAM are largely due to the designers of Almaz-Antey. They fulfilled the order of the Ministry of Defense, despite all the difficulties. In July 2015, the management of the concern officially announced that the tests of the anti-aircraft systems under consideration were successfully completed.

Modifications and TTX

In the series "Polimen-Redut" there are two variants of the complexes. The first of them is aimed at the frigates of project 22350 (K96-2), and the second version is supposed to be mounted on corvettes of type 20380 (equipped with the "Fourke-2" system).

Below are the parameters of the tactical and technical plan:

  • The range of damage to the aerodynamic target is from 1.5 to 60 km.
  • The height of the shot is 0.01-30 km.
  • The zone of elimination of ballistic targets is from 1.5 to 30 km in range, 2-25 km in height.
  • The ammunition used is the anti-aircraft guided missile 9-M-96E2.

The charge has a starting weight of about 420 kilograms, the average flight speed is 950 meters per second. The type of missile guidance is inertial with a radio-correction system. The combat head used is radar, active. The defeat is a high-explosive fragmentation type with a mass of the main part of 24 kg.

Interesting Facts

On the Baltic Sea in 2015, two successful launches of 9-M96E missiles from the side of the corvette "Sobystvitelny" were conducted. Subsequently, the Redut system was installed on the frigate Admiral Gorshkov. This ship is now in the Northern Fleet, is preparing to conduct joint tests, including the defeat of flight targets. Modernization of the vessel at the shipyard in St. Petersburg made it possible to equip the ship with additional radar facilities

Within the framework of the Max-2013 airshow, an official briefing was held, at which the general director of the Antey-Almaz group stated that the testing of the new anti-aircraft missile system was interrupted in 2012. The main reason is a fire on the Corvette "Sobrazitelny". In the same year, after repairing the ship, the tests of the SAM were resumed. In 2014, the testing of the ammunition set on the Admiral Gorshkov started. Three types of missiles were tested: 9-M96D, 9-M100 and 9-M96D.

Finally

The Shtil-2 and Polimen-Redut air defense systems have similar parameters. Their main advantage over their predecessors is that they can be launched from above and above ground objects. In addition, the design features allow the use of less useful space with a simultaneous increase in the number of ammunition. All the missiles were successfully tested, despite some delays with the timing of the release of the complexes. The contemplated modern weapons are planned to be used on frigates and other ships, as well as on land bases and submarines. Such functional is associated with the universality of the complexes and their wide capabilities, including protection against aircraft and enemy ships.
