What is metal bending?

Of course, metal pipes of small diameter can be bent and with the help of ordinary vice. However, what about the metal roll with a sufficiently large diameter? For such purposes, specialists use machines, with which it is possible to make fast bending of such products without any deformation or damage. And they are called simply - benders. It is with the help of such machines is the bending of sheet metal and pipe. By the way, this device operates taking into account the specific thickness and plasticity of the steel from which the part is made, and also with the definition of the radius of curvature. How does bending of metal occur and what tools are involved in it?

Varieties of methods for bending steel plates

This process can be carried out manually or automatically - with the use of special technical equipment. Metal bending with its own hands is a complex and time-consuming process that takes a lot of time and effort. This is the treatment of steel in the use of hammer and pliers. Of course, with such tools it is impossible to bend the metal at a particular angle, preserving all the proportions and configurations of the part. However, for products of small dimensions and diameter, this is quite enough. A thin metal is bent with a special kyanki.

Industrial devices for bending of metal

As for professional equipment, it is necessary to note the following devices for bending metal:

  1. Roller machines.
  2. Bending presses.
  3. Rollers for bending.

The latter, in turn, are further divided into several types and can be either manual or hydraulic. Recently, the industry began to use more modern devices - with an electric drive. Used rollers to give the sheet a cylindrical shape. Often with the help of this equipment, chimneys and pipes are treated, as well as other voluminous parts.

With the help of a sheet bending press, the sheet metal is bent. Here it is necessary to note the fact that with the development of technologies, modern machines are able to produce complex parts in one working cycle with several bending lines. At the same time, the change of important parts of the apparatus (bending elements) takes place very quickly, which allows you to reconfigure the press to another product in the shortest possible time.

Application

Who needs a metal bending? The procedure for bending steel products is often used in small industries, as well as in households and households. In the latter case, similar machines are used for bending profiles of different sizes, prefabricated partitions, channels, corners, hulls, gutters, slopes, steel frames and many other metal products.

In addition, various presses and machines are used for the manufacture of sewer and water pipes. Recently, their configuration has become so complex that without the use of special equipment here simply can not do.

It should be noted that metal bending machines are also designed for processing copper and aluminum products. Even this equipment can bend the material, which has a paint and zinc coating. And thanks to the emergence of mobile machines, the work on the processing of sheet products can be carried out directly on the ground, and this is a significant time and cost saving, which would have to be spent on transporting devices.

Bending of metal by own hands

In the household there are several types of pipe processing by one's own hands:

1. "Bracket" - when the product resembles the letter "P".

2. "Kalach" - the pipe is bent in a semicircle.

3. "Compensator" - is used to bypass obstacles.

4. "Duck" - a bend by the type of the English letter "N" (most often used in plumbing).

For the treatment of pipes with their own hands, the plate with holes is most often used, into which the prongs (the stops for the parts) are installed. However, this method is not highly efficient, and therefore suitable only for products having a diameter of 1-1.5 centimeters. Thicker tubes are processed in the cold state with a fixed mandrel.

Bending of duralumin, brass and copper products, in contrast to ordinary sheet metal, has some features. Before the treatment, the product data is usually annealed at a temperature of 350 to 700 degrees Celsius (depending on the specific material) with air cooling. In this case, the pipe is filled with special molten rosin or paraffin, after which the product is allowed to cool. After the bending procedure, the filler is caught, since the heating of the middle of the part can cause its breaking.

So, we found out how the metal bends and what machines are used for this.
