A phenomenal record in long jump from a place: figures that no one has succeeded in surpassing

Jumping in length - this is a power exercise, which was included in the program of the Olympic Games back in the days of Ancient Greece. For its productive performance athletes need to exert a lot of effort to push off and gain the necessary speed for the most effective lifting up.

History of development

Athletics (long jump, running distance, hammer throwing, spears and other types of exercises) has become an effective impetus in the development of sports in general.

The first record in long jump from the place was put in Ancient Greece, when this exercise was taken to perform with dumbbells in hand. Weight of additional weighting, as a rule, was from 2 to 10 pounds. The result of jumping in this situation depended on how effective a man was waving dumbbells. The athlete had to push and pull the weighting so that at the time of flight, the legs and arms were located in front of the body. Active movement of hands before the most landing freed from dumbbells, thereby significantly increasing the flight distance.

Most of the time, Greek athletes honed the styles of the exercise, they did not need a record in long jump from the place. Therefore, you can not find any specific data on the force indicators established at that time.

The current stage

The current level of development of athletics began in the nineteenth century. At this time, athletes actively performed various types of jumps. Especially often there was a flight with knees high in front of him in the air, strongly bent backwards with legs and running movements. The modern way of performing a jump like "scissors" has a long-standing prototype, invented by Mayer Princeton in 1898.

Record in long jump from the place

Few exercises of great sport can be compared with movements natural to a person. But the jumps belong to this group, so they became part of the international competitions back in the period of the ancient Greece.

When in 1860 a jump from the site was included in the program of student competitions at Oxford University, the winner was Mike Powell, showing the result of 5.28 m. But this was just the beginning of his fast career.

August 30, 1991 Mike Powell set a phenomenal record in long jump from a place that no one has managed to beat before. He managed to jump to a distance of 8.95 m.

The first female record was recorded back in 1928 thanks to the efforts of the representative of Japan, Kinue Hitomi, but he was again beaten by other athletes, and now the record is 7.52 meters.
