Jumps in height - a fascinating sight

One of the popular types of athletics is high jumps. They hold competitions among professionals, but everyone who went to school remembers how physical education teachers were forced to jump over the crossbar and land correctly on the trampoline. Perhaps not everyone understood the importance of such an exercise, but in fact, high jumps allow you to comprehensively develop your body, at least in school years.

The essence of high jumps

This kind of sport very much develops flexibility and jumping. That is why it is included in the school curriculum, and every student must be able to jump high. The essence of this exercise is simple: two vertical poles are installed, between which is a horizontal crossbar, the height of which is adjustable. Behind this design are mats that allow the jumping to soften the fall and avoid injuries. Race for the jump is taken obliquely from the crossbar, right in front of it the athlete must push as hard as possible to fly the crossbar, without dropping it. The task is not simple, but if you constantly train, you can improve your body and reach new heights.

Varieties and features

There are different ways of jumping in height, but only two are officially recognized. They have become the most popular and are now used even in international competitions. The jump in height by "stepping over" is the most common among amateurs, since it is very simple to perform. With his help they train in schools, but for a long time already it is not used in competitions, as it does not give a sufficient result. The meaning of it is that after the take-off during the jump, the athlete first passes through the bar one leg, and then the other. Nothing complicated, but it is simply impossible to achieve the height needed in international competitions. Therefore, a different style was invented by trial and error, which was called "phosphoryl flop." The athlete takes a run not directly diagonally, but in an arc, during a jump turns with his back to the ground and transfers gradually all his body over the bar, starting from the head and ending with his feet. This view allows you to jump much higher than using the stepping, so it is by far the most common among professionals.

How are the competitions?

Jumps in height have their own system of conducting competitions, which is not so easy to understand.
It starts with the fact that the participant always has three attempts, and he is eliminated from the competition only in the event that he could not take the height three times in a row. He can skip any heights, that is, jump 1.70, skip 1.80 and immediately jump 1.90. But at the same time he should remember that if he fails to take the height of 1.90 three times, then he will get the height of 1.70. Thus, you can save energy, but risk jumping to new heights, or you can progress consistently and confidently, jumping all the heights and steadily providing yourself a high result. These decisions of the athletes make high jumps a very exciting sport.
