Way to the ice

Born Briand in the French city of Poitiers in 1984. After the surgery in infancy (removal of the kidney), it was hardly possible to imagine a sporty future for this boy. But already at the age of 4 years he first goes to the rink, where by the time older sisters Joubert are engaged. Bryan first tries himself in ice dancing, but much more attracted by jumping and acrobatic stunts, he eventually turns into a single men's skating. At the rink of his hometown of Poitiers begins his journey into a great sport.

Brian Joubert and his family devoted a lot of time to figure skating. His mother Raymond Joubert supported his son in his quest for champion titles and spent many hours with him in training. The first medals

His first tournament was the 2000 Junior World Championships. 15th place - this is the result that Joubert showed at these competitions. Briand is also going to the European Championships this year, where he already takes 3rd place - this result allows him to take a place in the French national team at the forthcoming Olympics (2002). In fact, the 1999/00 season was the only season when the skater performed in the junior team.

At the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, he becomes the fourteenth, and at the next World Championships (2003) climbs one step higher (13th place).

The 2003/04 season brings the first gold medal won by Joubert. Briand took part in the tournament Skate America, which was one of the stages of the Grand Prix.

The 2004 European Championship brought gold, by the way, at this tournament, Brian first managed to bypass his most important competitor, Evgeni Plushenko. Silver medal - at the World Championships in the same year, and in general this season can be called the most successful career in the figure skater. Brian Joubert and his family maintained contact during responsible competitions, and his mother very often traveled with his son to support him.

The Moscow World Cup 2005 is not going well, and the Olympics in Turin, unfortunately, does not bring awards. But in the next season Joubert again rises to the podium, passing only his compatriot - Stefan Lambiel.

Career peak

The peak of Joubert's career can be called the 2006/07 season, in which the skater wins all the competitions in which he participated. The main award of the Grand Prix, the gold of the world championship, was lacking only Olympic gold, which Briand could not win in his career. World Cup 2007, he wins almost no healing injuries, and already bypasses Lambiel.

Problems and traumas

Before the start of the competition in the world championship in 2007, Briand is seriously injured. Unsuccessful landing after a difficult jump - and he cuts the foot with the edge of the ridge. Next year, a back injury forces the athlete to withdraw from the competition. Ironically, the case with the dissection of the foot will be repeated, and Joubert Briand will be forced to refuse to participate in the final stage of the Grand Prix and in the 2009/10 French Championships. But for the European Championship, which was held in Tallinn, the figure skater heals the trauma and becomes a bronze medalist. Although, of course, he could count on a higher place, but the arbitrary program failed, and only the third result had to be satisfied.

The Olympiad in Vancouver was completely disastrous - 16th place in the overall standings. But the championship in Turin again brings a medal.

Career Briand developed unstable, because of injuries and annoying blunders, he could not show stable results, and this fact greatly upset the athlete. As a result, he decides to complete his professional career and in 2014 stops participating in international competitions.
