Wines "Abrau-Durso": reviews

New Year, birthday and other holidays will be memorable if the champagne wine "Abrau-Durso" is present on the table. Lovely drink has fallen in love with everyone since ancient times. A low-alcohol drink is obtained from three unique varieties of grapes, which give it a rich taste.

History of the drink

The homeland of champagne is considered to be France, Champagne province. The manufacturer has established clear laws, without observance of which no company could create new varieties of the drink. To date, the manufacturing technology remains the same, only the name of the product changes.

In Russia, such a low-alcohol drink began to be produced not so long ago. At the end of the 19th century, Prince Golitsyn organized the first firm engaged in the creation of champagne. Before starting this business, the prince studied in detail the winemaking of France, and then laid the vineyards and built special cellars in Sudak.

Very soon Golitsyn's goods occupied an honorable place at the dinner during the coronation of the new tsar. After such a success, Golitsyn began to establish his production in Abrau-Durso, and a couple of years later he received a well-deserved award - silver Grand Prix.

Types of Champagne

On the types of wine is divided by color: white, red, pink. In addition, each of them has a different sugar content. The most popular wine is "Abrau-Durso" - "Brut" (photo is shown below). It is dry / super-dry wine, where no sugar or syrup is added. Sweetness is given exclusively by berries, of which all sugar is discarded. In other types of beverage, both sugar and syrup are added. Depending on the amount of these ingredients, wine is:

  • Semi-dry;
  • Semisweet;
  • sweet.

In many countries, tasters value dry champagne more, but in Russia the preference is given to a semi-sweet kind.

Many years ago, Stalin still loved sweet and semisweet wines. For this reason, the release of an effervescent drink began with a semisweet. Although everyone knew that the world appreciated the dry wine more, the producers were obliged to please the leader. Now Russian people prefer semisweet champagne and everywhere put it on the first place.

Best brand of Russia

The world drink of the brand "Widow Clicquot" surpassed the Russian wines "Abrau-Durso", reviews about which are much better. Both companies present original packaging to customers, which attract the attention of both ordinary people and real connoisseurs of low-alcohol drinks.

"Abrau-Durso" is not only recognized and beloved by all the Russian brand, it is also highly valued outside the country in which it is produced. Proof of well-deserved success are honestly earned awards: more than 200 medals (gold, silver, bronze), as well as 9 Grand Prix.

The best of the variety of drinks recognized many wines "Abrau-Durso". Names that really sound "royal," almost every person knows:

  1. "Imperial Vintage" - collection wine of 2002, is served along with truffles or black caviar. The reviews say that it is better to try it once than to drink something all life.
  2. "Premium Gold" - a collection drink of 2006 year. Gastronomic brut, long exposure time.
  3. "Imperial Cuvée Art Nouveau" - aged champagne of the year 2008, decorated with gala dinners, balls, jubilees, social receptions.

In addition to the three leaders, there are other collector options for a sufficiently long exposure. The price of one bottle can reach even a few thousand American dollars.

And the biggest pride of production is the nominal line, which was named after Victor Dravigny, the great winemaker of France. In the last century, this man was the main champagne of the specific estate. Thanks to his skills, he received the glory of a great master.

Production technology

According to French laws, wine "Abrau-Durso" is produced. The description of production technology is not widely available to anyone, but the approximate way of making a drink to people is known.

Fermentation takes place in special bottles at the required temperature, while the drink is saturated with carbon dioxide.

At many other wines the full process of manufacturing does not last too long - from 16 to 28 days. Immediately thereafter, the goods go on sale. But for real gourmets and connoisseurs of production "Abrau-Durso" there are more elite species, the manufacturing process of which only starts from 3 years. As you know, a long exposure time indicates a high cost.

Champagne Wine Factory

The estate is an immovable property whose income must necessarily flow to the royal family. Therefore, the meadows, steppes and forests provided to the production reached an incredible size.

The plant is located in the city of Novorossiysk, so a tour of it is included in some sightseeing tickets around the city. The first entry into the eye is the entrance - in the center is a magnificent fountain, and the wall behind which the main hall is located is executed in an original way. After penetrating this wall visitors can view the mock-up of the plant and the bust of its founder. The premises and the internal situation will not leave anyone indifferent.

First achievements

The very first successes were achieved even under Golitsyn. In 1894, workers built a basement that contained about 10,000 buckets, and after 3 years there were 5 such cellars.

Russian champagne was also created thanks to Golitsyn. With the participation of professionals from France, the first bottles appeared. And after that the winery got the right to display the state emblem on the labels of its own goods.

New achievements in the development of domestic winemaking brought the company invited from France, the main champagne. During his work the situation was not very good - it was the time of revolutions. Although this did not prevent him from realizing his plans. The work of the champagne was highly appreciated by the Russian emperor, after which he introduced champagne at the court. At the same time, the goods were already being transported for sale to America and Western Europe.

Already by 1913 the plant of champagne wines felt brilliant prospects in the future and the peaks already reached. The areas of vineyards became more and more, the products spread and brought good profit. But soon there were also the first setbacks - the First World War, which radically changed the work of production, was close.

Soviet time

In 1920, the Soviet economy was created, which was headed by Eduard Wedel. All scientific work within the plant was carried out by a Soviet scientist, the founder of a school of champagnes named Anton Frolov-Bagreev. It was his efforts that helped Russian production to resume work in normal conditions.

Military operations (the Great Patriotic War) destroyed the factory building and some underground tunnels. Fortunately, even before the fighting began, the factory workers were evacuated, as well as the most valuable equipment and several bottles of exclusive wine.

Restorative work was launched immediately after the liberation of the city (1943). Reliably built cellars helped to save a significant number of barrels filled with a valuable drink. Also, all the equipment removed earlier was gradually returned, new presses were installed and put into operation. Restoration was completed only in 1956.

The next 30 years the village in Novorossiysk was the leader among all Soviet wine production. These happy moments and achievements have blocked the sharp crisis that has appeared due to the "dry law". Because of this, the area of the vineyards has significantly decreased, and by the beginning of the 21st century more than half of all the vineyards were lost.

Revival

The revival period began in 2006. At that time, the administration was changed, and with it a change in the form of community took place. With a great desire to preserve the production of the great Russian drink, the plant was taken up by Boris Titov. And in a year's time there were kinds of wine, which received worthy medals at the contest in London. In 2011, the company signed one of the most important contracts in its entire history, after which it became the official supplier of products for the 2014 Olympics. To date, the plant provides an opportunity to visit the excursion for all comers.
