Window jumpers with own hands

When building a house, the question of window lintels is very important. You can buy ready-made elements, it's easy to find them on the market, but you can go on a different path - do it yourself. Moreover, hand-made manufacturing will not only help to save finances, which during construction and so diverge quickly, but also to make the necessary details of a more suitable size.

Producers or intermediaries offer their customers window lintels, the price of which varies greatly depending on their type. So, the jumper 3PB-16-37p will cost about 900 rubles, and 3PP-16-71 of the same length already in the region of 2700 rubles. Therefore, before talking about how to do them yourself, you must first understand what they are and what their differences are:

  1. Bearers, they are also called beams reinforced. They take the load from the plates.
  2. Not bearing, or simply beams. They take the load from the walls erected above.
  3. "Pencils". This type of jumper is the thinnest, and therefore the weakest. They are used in thin partitions, i.e., where they are not subjected to great pressure.
  4. Running. Under this name we mean ordinary jumpers of huge sizes.
  5. Rigel. These are the same runs, but with a special groove for laying slabs or other reinforced concrete structures.

Progons and bolts to make independently is almost impossible because of their large dimensions. But the window and door lintels (conventional and reinforced) do it yourself quite realistically, as will be discussed later. "Pencils" make it even easier.

Window bridges can be made both on the street and directly on the site of their future deployment. If this is done outside the house under construction, then it is a little easier to do the work for their manufacture, but it is necessary to think about the fact that then they will have to be dragged, lifted and installed. And this is hard work. If you do them immediately on the wall, then you can get rid of such hard work.

The general plan of activities that you need to perform in order to make window jumpers is as follows:

  1. Manufacturing of formwork boards. For these purposes, you can use an edging board with a thickness of 20-25 mm. It is best to fasten the lumber with screws and a screwdriver, then assembly and disassembly will be easier.
  2. Installation of the lower horizontal shield.
  3. Installation of supports. Under the installed lower formwork panel, it is necessary to install supports. If this is not done, the formwork can not withstand the weight of the concrete and break through.
  4. Reinforcement. An obligatory condition is the binding of the reinforcing mesh. The stronger the future reinforced concrete structure, the better.
  5. Installation of a vertical formwork panel. After the reinforcement is laid, it is possible to fasten the vertical formwork boards. To do this is also better with the help of self-tapping screws, so that later it would be easier to disassemble.
  6. The fill. Well, at the last stage the concrete is poured.

In this simple way, you can independently make both window lintels and doors. And, if everything is done correctly, then they will serve for a long time.
