Which water heaters are better?
If we compare water heaters by fuel - electric or gas, then the comparison will be in favor of the latter. And the costs of installation of gas equipment, construction of the chimney and the cost of further maintenance are quickly recouped due to the low cost of consumed water.
Thus, it is difficult to say unambiguously which water heaters are better. Summarizing all of the above, it is possible to characterize the advantages and disadvantages of the main types of water heaters.
- Gas water heaters are compact, which allows it to be mounted directly in the kitchen. The disadvantage is their relatively low power.
- Electric flowing water heaters have advantages and disadvantages, as well as their gas analogues. Their advantage is that they do not need a chimney, and the main drawback is the need to use high-power heating elements.
- Storage gas water heaters have powerful gas burners and high-efficiency heat exchangers. In addition, they are very roomy: the volume of the tank can reach 300-500 liters. The disadvantage is that large sizes allow to install them only in non-residential premises: boiler room, basement, attic.
- Cumulative electric water heaters are characterized by low power consumption. The disadvantage of these are large dimensions.
- Which water heaters are best for different sized houses? Gas flow devices are suitable for a gasified house in which a kitchen sink and 1-2 bathrooms. If the house is not gasified, then it will be necessary to take into account the possibility of a local power network when installing a flow-through electric water heater. The latter is impractical to install in a house with several bathrooms, showers.
The best choice for a gasified house can be considered a storage gas water heater. If there is no gas in the house, then it is possible to use the same storage unit, but electric, which consumes little electricity and is easy enough to install and connect.
