Where in the car there are injectors and for what they are necessary

The nozzle is a fuel dispenser. Also in its function is to make an air-fuel mixture and spray it in the combustion chamber of the engine.

To understand where the injector is in the car, you need to find out in which fuel system it works.

Central injection nozzle

Where in the car is the injector of the central injection system (mono-injection)? It is located in the intake manifold (or collector, through which fuel comes from the carburetor into the engine cylinders) in front of the throttle, which is indispensable for regulating the air supply to the system).

This is the first injector system designed to replace carburetor engines. It only has one 4-cylinder nozzle (that's why it's called "mono-shot"). The nozzle sprays the fuel over the throttle, which enriches it with air. Then this mixture enters the intake manifold and is distributed along the cylinders. The whole process is controlled by different sensors.

Distributed Injection Injectors

Where in the car to find the injectors of distributed injection? This system is more complicated. It has 4 nozzles equipped with solenoid valves. They are in the intake tracts of the cylinders, one for each.

The injector feeds gasoline to the intake valve of the cylinder. The fuel evaporates and mixes with air (the same throttle is responsible for its supply). Unlike the mono-shot, here the fuel mixture is formed in the cylinders themselves.

The operation of the injectors is controlled by an electronic control unit. It is he who signals the Check Engine indicator on the dashboard in case of malfunctions in the engine.

Injectors of direct injection

The direct injection system is the most "young" in relation to the application on the car. Where the injectors of this system are in the car, it's easy to guess. They completely "got close" to the combustion chamber and settled on the top of the cylinder. Accordingly, the fuel gets directly into the combustion chamber and is already mixed there with air. Many nozzles respond to the operation of the nozzle, the information goes to the control unit.

The work of the injector in this system is much more difficult: the pressure for fuel supply is much higher, and for a sharp increase in the speed of the machine at low speeds, a double fuel injection is triggered.

In this engine there are two types of mixture formation. Accordingly, the nozzles can operate in two modes:

  • Layer-by-layer mixture occurs when the engine is running at low and medium revs (the injector feeds fuel at the end of the compression stroke).
  • A homogeneous mixture of air and fuel is needed at high speeds (here the nozzle operates at the intake stroke simultaneously with the supply of air).

In both cases, significant fuel economy occurs at high efficiency.

Gas injectors

Cars go not only on gasoline or diesel fuel, but also on gas. As a rule, a gas installation is an additional equipment in a car that is not provided for by the manufacturers. Conventional fuel injectors for such a device are not designed. Therefore, in the kit for the gas cylinder and the reducer go their own nozzles, which are mounted in the engine.

To find where in the car there are nozzles of the gas equipment, it is enough to open the hood. They are a plastic block of four sections (inside each nozzle is located) with the hoses brought to them. This design is mounted as close as possible to the standard injectors.

Distinctions of the gas nozzle from the gasoline:

  • The width of the gas section is many times greater, because through it passes a larger volume of fuel than through the gasoline.
  • The greater electrical resistance of the petrol injector is due to the need to pass a smaller amount of fuel.
  • The principle of controlling the injection of a gasoline injector is reduced to feeding a single electric pulse, while the gas is triggered by two short ones.

How and why to adjust the gas injectors

After installing the gas equipment, the computer must be "explained" how to calculate and apply the gas. For this purpose, special adjustment programs are used. They are similar to each other on the interface. Can be used both independently and on specialized services.

Cleaning and adjustment of gas injectors should be carried out after some time of operation, if symptoms of their incorrect operation appear: the car is hard to start, refuses to go on gas (stalls or rides with jerks). Most often they arise because of impurities that are added to the gas at the gas stations.

To get rid of the problem, you need to change the fine filter and put the nozzles in order.

Determine where in the car there are nozzles HBO, remove them. The epicenter of the blockage is in the chamber with the rod. We disassemble it, clean it (preferably with alcohol) from the adhered resin, then collect it back.

Using a micrometer, we calibrate the gaps of each rod (they must be the same for all four). If there is no such device, you can contact the service of repair of HBO.
