"Moskvich 434": technical characteristics, photo

Each of us saw a car like "Moskvich". Now these machines are slowly going down in history. "Moskvich 434" is no exception. It is not possible to find a truly "live" copy. Often many associate these car brands with the 412th model or the more or less modern "Svyatogor". But in today's article, we'll talk about a car like "Moskvich 434". Overview of the model and its technical characteristics - later in this article.

Characteristic

This car is a very rare specimen. It was not produced as long as its "brethren". So, for the first time "Moskvich 434" appeared in 1968 year. Serial production of these cars was discontinued after five years, in 73rd year. The assembly was carried out at the Leninsky Komsomol Automobile Plant. Also, the machine was made at the plant "IZH". However, as the car owners said, the assembly quality at AZLK was much higher, despite the fact that the parts were the same.

Design

The car was produced in a single body - this is a van. And the rear part of the luggage compartment was tightly closed. The exterior of the car is made according to the canons of the 70's. To evaluate the appearance of the car "Moskvich 434" you can on the photo below. A characteristic feature of the van is the "horns" on the hood. This arrangement of the side mirrors was used on Japanese old cars, with a true right-hand drive. But today it's not about them. The machine is made quite simply and practical. At that time, no one could think about how to make a dynamic and expressive design. It is a working machine that should serve the good of the Soviet people. So it was. The car was used for transportation of small household goods and other goods. Also note that most of these vans were used to deliver letters at the post office. By the way, the successor of the car "Moskvich 434" (modification 2715) received the headlights from the 412th model. The car began to look more modern. Regarding our model, the design of the car has long passed into the category of retro. By the way, on some cars the chrome-plated shine has remained and the headlights have not faded. That's what the phrase "real Soviet quality" means.

What are the features?

According to the technical passport, this specimen belonged to the category of small and medium-sized passenger cars with a body wagon. The car came to replace the 433rd model. The main difference is a new engine. The same was installed on "Moskvich 412". Now its volume was one and a half liters. Previously, these machines were installed engines with a volume of 1.4 liters. Years passed, and the model required changes. So, the new development was called "Moskvich 434". Photos of this car you can see in our article.

By the way, the back door of "Moskvich" was bivalve until the 72nd year. The latest versions of the car were already equipped with a solid "lyada". And the rear lights were left from the same 433rd "Moskvich". Also, the car was equipped with chrome caps, which gave the car a more attractive look.

Moskvich: technical specifications

As we said earlier, the main feature of this model is the availability of a new engine. Now its volume has increased to one and a half liters. Also, the car was fitted with a more refined gearbox. This allowed transportation of heavier loads weighing up to 400 kilograms (with two people in the cabin). But still the number of speeds was small (only four). If we talk in more detail about the technical characteristics, the engine has a linear arrangement of the cylinders. There are only four of them. The maximum engine power was 75 horsepower. And it was achieved already at 5800 rpm. To achieve a good torque, you had to heavily load the motor. The equipped weight of the car "Moskvich 434" (a pickup we do not take into account) is exactly 1000 kilograms.

Suspension

The car has a classic knot arrangement. This is the longitudinal arrangement of the engine, the propeller shaft and the rear axle. This arrangement was used in domestic cars until the appearance of "nine" and "eights." If we talk about AZLK, the first front-wheel drive cars were named "Moskvich 2141". Let's continue on our van. The wheel formula is 4x2 (there was only a rear-wheel drive). In front of the car is an independent spring suspension, bezkvornevaya, with a stamped crossbeam. Behind them were half-elliptical springs. There are two on each side. They are the same as on the legendary "Volga" 24-series - almost unmade. The brake system is frankly rather weak. This is not surprising, because there were drum disks in front and behind. In addition, the car was loaded "to the eye". Total at a mass of almost one and a half tons of nodes and units worked constantly under load (including grip).

Other Features

The use of a more modern engine (for those years) allowed to reduce fuel consumption. According to the passport data, it was 9 and a half liters per 100 kilometers. The car "Moskvich 434" characteristics of the dynamics were far from ideal. So, the maximum speed of the car is 115 kilometers per hour. Acceleration to hundreds took 19 seconds.
The dimensions of the body of the "Moskvich" 434-th model are standard for a van. So, the length of the car is 4.2 meters, width - 1.48 m, height - 1.55 m. Ground clearance - 17 centimeters. This car was quite enough. It easily overcomes dirt roads and back roads. "Moskvich" confidently rides where the cars are closed to foreign cars (even though it is a van body). As for the control characteristics, the car did not go far from the 433rd model. The only thing that has improved comfort is the vacuum brake booster. Now the driver had to press the pedal less if necessary. In the rest, the car did not differ in a quiet interior or any maneuverability.

Export and modifications

In addition to the basic model, the car was produced in several modifications with the following marks:

  • "Yu" - for the regions of the USSR with a hot climate. The machine was designed for operation in extremely high temperatures. The machine was not heated even at +40 degrees Celsius.
  • "P" - for countries with left-hand traffic. The steering wheel, respectively, was on the right.

Separately, we should talk about export modifications. The Muscovites gathered not only in the Soviet Union, but also in Bulgaria, as well as in Belgium, where they can still be seen (most often in museums). By the way, in Belgium the car had the name Scaldia. As for the 412th "fellow", he repeatedly won prizes in rally racing. "Muscovites" were famous for their reliability and maintainability. And the 434th model is no exception.

A distinctive feature of this specimen is the presence of a red or beige salon. Usually in this color were painted export versions of the car. However, such a color finish was repeatedly used on the "Moskvich" for the domestic market. Another interesting modification is the Moskvich pickup truck. He meets even less often. This model was marked 2715. Most of the cars were exported to Finland, where it was called Elite PickUp.

Price

The urgency of buying such a car in our time remains a big question. Now it is hardly possible to find a worthy specimen, especially since there are difficulties with finding spare parts for it. Current buyers are often collectors who restore the data of the car or take them for a project. As for the cost, "Muscovites" are sold literally at the price of the chermet - for 100-200 dollars, and with all the documents. Often, these cars are simply rotting in the streets, in courtyards or standing in the garage dead weight. By the way, now the scale model of the car "Moskvich 434" (blue, 1:43) is on sale.

The blue interior is a distinctive feature of this model. This "chip" was then adopted at the AvtoVAZ plant in the 70s.

Conclusion

So, we found out what the "Moskvich 434" cargo van is. As you can see, the car is very rare. The only reason to take it - under restoration, as a collection. To operate such a car "on everyday" does not make any sense.
