What is remarkable about the stadium "Central" of Volgograd?

The central stadium of Volgograd is municipal municipal property. Now this is the former home arena of the football club Rotor. The stadium was built at the foot of the Mamayev Kurgan. In 2018, the World Cup will take place on the sports arena. But for this the former Central Stadium was subject to repair. But instead it was decided that it would be more appropriate to build a new one with a different name on the site of the sports complex.

History of the stadium

The authors of the first Central arena of Volgograd were the architects Hecker, Dynkin, Frenkel and Fialko. The construction of the central stadium (sometimes called Stalingrad Luzhniki) was started in 1958. The arena was built by the whole world by professionals and ordinary students. The complex was to become the largest sports ground in the region. During the construction period and the first years of operation the stadium was called "Volga".

According to the project, he had to have an arena with stands for 35,000 people, a swimming pool built to world standards, and an athletic winter riding arena. Separately it was planned to build 6 gymnastics halls, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts. And also a yacht club and an additional small stadium with stands that can accommodate 5,000 people.

The stadium project belonged to typical buildings that were commissioned in other regions of the USSR. Since 1960, students of the Institute of Physical Culture took a direct part in the construction of the sports facility. Next to this school is the stadium.

It was considered the arena of "Rotor". But in 2009, together with the football club went into the ownership of businessman Oleg Mikheev. Under the contract, the businessman had to pay off all debts of Rotor. But the transition of the stadium into private ownership was met with a sharp indignation of the public. And the prosecutor's office started checking the legality of the deal. As a result, the sports complex again became the municipal property of the Volgograd region.

Description

Stadium "Central" (Volgograd) - a structure that originally consisted of two stands (western and eastern), divided into eleven sectors. The letter designation is in alphabetical order. The stadium was renovated several times. The sports complex was used not only for football matches of Rotor club. On the site there were rallies, speeches of politicians and concerts of foreign show stars.

Pool of the Central Stadium

The pool at the Central Stadium (Volgograd) was built in the form of a closed swimming complex. He had several towers for jumping - from 1 to 10 meters. The first major sporting event was a friendly football match. The Olympic team and the national team of the USSR played. At the stadium came more than 45,000 fans.

The noisy sold out

The first sold-out was held one year after the opening of the sports complex. In 1963, May 18, came with a speech by Fidel Castro, known at the time as a Cuban revolutionary, and later - the president of his country. During the arrival of the politician the stands were packed full of jam. Free place was not found even on the field. Over 60,000 people were present. The meeting of F. Castro was the final chord of his visit.

Then the stadium "Central" (Volgograd) once visited Khrushchev. In 1965, in the arena was a grand feast to the 20th anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War. In 1977 - the fourth Komsomol festival and a football match with Poland. In 1981 the club Rotor, playing at the Central Stadium, was able to enter the First League. This was one of the most memorable events. In 1988, the stadium hosted international competitions in athletics. In 1990 in the sports complex the stands were again crowded. The band Deep Purple performed with soloist Ian Gillan.

In 1994 on the field again played "Rotor", fighting for the European Cup. Then at the stadium there were many more loud events, gathering a large number of people. On the field often played the famous foreign and Russian football clubs.

The last repair was started at the stadium in the run-up to the 2008 European Championship. It was assumed that in part the games will be held in Volgograd. But the competitions were moved to another country. And the repair was suspended. Perhaps in 2018 the stadium will host the games of the world championship.

Reconstruction

In 2000, the issue of reconstruction was raised, as the application to UEFA filed and Volgograd. Work at the Central Stadium began to boil, without waiting for a decision from the European Football Federation. Several sectors of the stands were demolished. But after learning that the application was rejected in UEFA, the repair was suspended. In memory of the unfulfilled hopes there remained a huge hole at the gate.

At the same time, Rotor lost its professional status and together with them the Central Stadium began to move from hand to hand. The situation was normal only in 2010. First, Rotor club was restored, then FIFA satisfied the application for the World Cup at the Central Stadium. It was again necessary to reconstruct it.

But it was decided not to repair the stadium, but to build a new one. In 2010, the dismantling of the arena began. And the sports complex was renamed "Victory". Completion of construction is planned in 2017. The stadium was designed for 45 thousand people. After the World Cup is held in 2018, the arena will again be transferred to "Rotor".

Stadium "Central" (Volgograd) was almost a holy place for many. Many world celebrities performed on its field. And the fact that the new stadium will rise on the site of the Central, very happy fans. Perhaps the former glory of the old arena will still give an echo to its receiver.

When the construction of the stadium began in Volgograd, the Central has ceased to exist. The new complex is named "Victory". According to the draft, he must have standing stands for 35,000 people. And another 10 thousand places - collapsible. The image of the fame of the old Central Stadium (salute) was decided to be used for a new sports arena.

Initially, the construction was planned to be built in gold and red colors. But Rotor asked me to use blue and blue. The wish of the club was taken into account. For the upcoming World Cup, which should be held in 2018, still need to do a lot of work. According to the project, the new stadium should have a high-tech heated indoor arena.
