What is Oblomovism today for each of us?

To talk about what Oblomovism is, today we can thanks to the pen of Ivan Aleksandrovich Goncharov. By birth he belonged to the merchant class. Therefore, education for him was determined - commercial. But, learning, he discovered literature, spiritual life. Therefore, I was transferred to the verbal department of Moscow University. How he was right! After all, his fellow practitioners were Aksakov, Lermontov, Turgenev, Belinsky, Herzen.

He did not write much for his life. Ivan Aleksandrovich did not differ in the "lightness of his pen." Working on his novel, survived the century, the writer tried to give a complete and comprehensive description of the social phenomenon of "Oblomov and Oblomovism". The composition of the work took a long ten years.

Why so long? Diplomatic activity in the East and then censorship demanded great devotion. Yes, and Ivan Alexandrovitch liked to think about it before taking up his pen. Perhaps that is why in Goncharov's books Oblomov, Obryv, Ordinary History, there is wisdom, there is a "storehouse of reflections" for the reader. The novel "Oblomov" in its actuality was a cultural shock for Russia in the XIX century.

By the lips of one of the characters in the novel - Stolz, the antipode of the main character Oblomov Ilya Ilyich, the landowner of Oblomovka village - the writer defines a new word in Russian that has become a household word. What is Oblomovism? Composing unrealistic unrealistic plans, large, like air locks, lying comfortably on your couch? The way of life of a single landowner, gone with him into oblivion? Nikolai Aleksandrovich Dobrolyubov answered this in his article. "Laziness and apathy", the origin and development of which is initiated by the environment, cause the all-consuming inertia of the hero of the hero. Possessing positive character traits, noble gusts of the soul, he never realizes them. He is afraid to get involved in the "ant" running of people, initially philosophically considering it useless. The article by Dobrolyubov, by the way, is directly called: "What is Oblomovism?"

Is this concept outdated today? Yes you! Today Oblomovism has become a state ideology. Today's Oblomovs, unlike Goncharov's, are able to imitate pseudo-activity. But they are just as deeply indifferent to the "ant drivel of people", and often their suffering (in fact, in the lexicon of the landlord there was no phrase "These are your problems!").

To understand this, it is enough to turn on the TV when the debate of parliamentarians is broadcast. Years and decades, we see on the screen the same Oblomovs (however, often evil and bilious, which does not change the essence), telling all of us about their great plans, hotly, before fights, arguing with opponents. Flying glasses of water, caustic phrases, personal insults. Be sure, every second of them, leaving the studio, will forget what he promised, rather rubbing his hands and saying: "Aye, I, Ilya Ilyich, ay-da well done!" Therefore harmless for decent journalists instead of Gogol's enthusiastic ("What kind of geese is Ivan Ivanovich?") And profound conclusions ("What a wonderful man he is!") Will ask the question differently, in Goncharov's style: "Tell me, how do you, a wealthy man, understand what Oblomovism is ? "

"Well yes! - you will say - politicians are far away! "However, there are many people in Oblomov's way" powerless for good, "but not free from morals. Do not they bring up modern and glamorous television and the press, today's "club life?" Absolutely in Oblomovsky (that's where the similarity, so similarity!) Sometimes looks our secular get-togethers. Having organized his business in such a way that he works for passive income, they live entirely for "secularism", although formally everywhere "participate", "flash". But their essence is the Goncharov landowner. Because of the "Oblomovs" at ministerial posts, our local "Lefties" can not shame foreign craftsmen, because of them the work of our craftsmen is not in demand. Therefore, dear readers, better answer yourself to the question: "What is Oblomovism today?"
