What is an epileptic seizure and how is it necessary to act in it?

It is known that all diseases are divided into congenital and acquired. In the case of epilepsy, it can be acquired in both ways. In addition, it is necessary to distinguish between seizures, status and the disease itself . Epilepsy - general or local cramps of a person's muscles , due to a malfunction of the nervous system in the head. It can look like an epileptic seizure, a series of seizures or be a chronic disease. All these are different degrees of the disease, i.e. Seizure or a series of seizures does not at all mean that a person is suffering from epilepsy.

Absence is a short-term seizure, expressed by small (controlled) cramps of some parts of the body. It happens most often as a result of intoxication, nervous breakdowns or moral overstrain. Also there is an absence of absence in people who have undergone great physical exertion. May be accompanied by some dizziness or headache. This is what distinguishes him from ordinary convulsions.

Epileptic seizure - profuse seizures of parts of the body, partial memory loss and inadequate behavior (actions and sounds), foam, urination and defecation are possible. Symptoms are somewhat tougher than with absences. Such a fit can be the beginning of the development of epilepsy or simply a reaction to the stressful state of the body. The causes are the same, but everything depends on the susceptibility and stability of the human body. If in the case of absans, a person completely controls himself and the attack lasts up to 2 minutes, then the epileptic seizure can last up to 5 minutes. In this state, the patient can not completely control his actions and thereby bring himself additional harm - damage from attacks on objects. Therefore, in the event of such a situation, the patient must be provided with the first medical aid.

If a person has the above symptoms near you, the first help for an epileptic fit is as follows:

1. Carefully lay the patient on the surface, while not restraining the movements of body parts. Restraining hands, feet and head can lead to injuries to you (because in this state the patient has great strength) and to injuries to the patient's muscles (overstrain). Since often the actions of such a person are uncontrollable, do not pay attention to certain points.

2. Free space for free access to fresh air and remove items that a person can be injured in a fit. Fresh air gives a rush of blood to the brain and normalizes the work of the whole organism. Quite often epileptics cause themselves big injuries, so be sure to take care of the free space around them.

3. Turn over to the patient's side. This manipulation is performed to remove the vomit and foam that may appear. The mortality from flooding in this respect is quite high.

4. Release from stiffening clothing. The patient must unfasten the buttons, belt or tie. Freedom of action for man and oxygen play a great role.

After a fit, a person may not remember what happened, have some weakness in the whole body and want to drink. Such an attack is an occasion to consult a doctor. If after the passage of one seizure the next begins, then it is called epileptic status. In this state of affairs, it is necessary to perform all of the above actions and immediately call an ambulance. Epileptic status can last relatively long. Therefore, it is necessary to urgently help relax the muscles of the patient and remove stress from the body as a whole. This is a more difficult task, which only physicians can do.

It is also necessary to immediately call the doctor if the attack occurs in a person with a diabetes (in the specific area of the disease) or if the attack is in a pregnant woman (fraught with damage to the fetus or the violation of certain processes). It is important to remember that some people are frightened when a person has an epileptic seizure. Do not be afraid, better help a person. In no case do not restrain a person in movement, unclench his jaw and insert objects into it. Remember that the correctness of your actions can cost someone a life.
