What are the benefits of Chernobyl?

For thousands of square kilometers, radiation has spread after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. Because of her, tens of thousands of people were injured, and were seriously injured. The benefits granted to Chernobyl victims are paid to the following categories:

  • Those who became victims of radiation sickness after the accident at the nuclear power plant. This category includes not only ordinary citizens, but also those who dealt with the liquidation of the consequences of the accident.
  • People with disabilities. This includes all civilians, military personnel, firefighters working in the exclusion zone. And the time for setting disability is not taken into account.
  • Privileges are assigned to Chernobyl victims at voluntary moving from a zone of defeat.
  • The families of those who died in the accident and its liquidation. The widows of Chernobyl victims have the right to benefits, privileges are assigned to children of evacuees.

A full list of categories of citizens eligible for benefits is provided in Law No. 1244-1 of 1991. However, the conditions for obtaining benefits were complicated. Now, in order to receive benefits, it is necessary to live in a resettlement zone for at least a year, in a zone with the right of resettlement for at least three years, and in a zone with a preferential social and economic status of at least four.

In addition to benefits, citizens affected by the Chernobyl accident are entitled to payments, namely:

  • When transferring citizens for medical claims from one category of health to another or when disability is prescribed, benefits are given for life or until they are fully restored.
  • Also, Chernobyl beneficiaries are appointed for the period of incapacity for work in the amount of full salary.
  • If there are children under 14 in the family, compensation is accrued for the purchase of food.

For those who are evacuated from the resettlement zone, the following types of payments are assigned:

  • Payment for recovery.
  • When moving to each member of the family, a fixed amount is paid.
  • The loss of property is compensated.

The procedure for receiving benefits and benefits
