We make an ottoman with our own hands

Ottomans, as well as decorative cushions, are created not only for their intended use, but also for bringing something beautiful and unique to the house. If you do not have padded stools at home, and the choice in the store is small or you just do not like anything, then you can make an ottoman yourself. Here it is important for you to arm yourself with a good idea, materials, and also time to do it.

Rainbow ottoman with own hands

If your interior has a clear lack of bright colors, then such a multi-colored element can help get rid of bored monotony, becoming an excellent addition for each room. It is not so difficult to make a similar ottoman. It is worth having the following at hand: rags of dense fabric of different shades that will fit together, filler, lining, threads, needles and scissors, two large buttons of the same size, and a sewing machine. You can start work. On a large sheet of paper should make a pattern. To do this, you must draw a circle whose diameter will match the size of the future puff. The circle should be divided into equal segments, first it should be divided into four parts, and then each of them by another three. Details of the pattern should be applied to the fabric and traced, not forgetting to add approximately two centimeters to the joining of the details along the sides of the petals, and also to the base. Similar parts should be found from the lining fabric, and then fold the underside of each lobe with a lining. Now you have to sew the elements with the sides, then iron the formed seams. For greater practicality it is necessary to make the lower part of the puffin from a monochromatic denser fabric of a darker shade.

Sew the upper part from the bottom to the wrong side, while leaving the small area unshielded. Now everything needs to be turned out through the hole that remains, after which fill the padding with filler. With the help of a hidden seam it is necessary to sew a hole. At the junction of all the petals in the central part, it is required to sew a button, fitted with one of the scraps. A similar procedure must be made from the lower side.

Striped ottoman with own hands from sweater

Do not rush to throw out old things. You can make a very original ottoman from a bright striped sweater, which you do not want to wear anymore. Such an object will not only serve as an excellent chair, but also an excellent element of the interior decor. You will need the following for work on the padded stool: an old sweater with an interesting pattern or bright coloring, a piece of felt, some dense fabric that will be used for a sheath, threads, scissors, needles, polystyrene pellets. You can start work and create an ottoman with your own hands. From felt, a circle of a suitable diameter should be cut out, it will become the bottom of the future product. The sleeves of the sweater should be turned inside, and then sew the resulting holes on a flat line. The lower part of the sweater should be sewn to the felt wheel, which will make it a kind of bag. Now from a dense fabric it is necessary to cut out a rectangle 50 * 70 centimeters. After that, it must be sewn in the form of a sack, making a bend on top, where the lace will be tucked in order to tighten the neck. Now it should be placed inside the sweater, then covered with polystyrene pellets. Lace on the cover can be tightened and tied as tightly as possible. The sweater can now be straightened, after which you will get a round ottoman, which looks simply superb.
