Vsevolod Nestayko: biography, creativity

With his books were familiar to almost all schoolchildren of the Soviet era, and growing up, re-read many times, experiencing the burning feeling of warmth of a childhood that has passed away ... He became the undisputed classic of modern Ukrainian children's literature. The hero of our article is Vsevolod Nestayko, whose books are still adored not only in Ukraine, but also far beyond its borders, despite the fact that the writer left this world in 2014.

About childhood and parents

The life of the writer began in the city of Berdichev. It was there that in 1930, on January 30, little Vsevolod was born. Together with a friend (Vitasik Dyachenko), who lived next door, they loved to read. Especially they loved Mark Twain, Jules Verne, Jack London, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov and so on. They had a dream for two - to become a sailor of a long voyage. But Nestayko did not succeed - he did not distinguish some colors. But as for Vitasik, he later became a captain.

Vsevolod's father, Zinovy, was educated at the Buchatskoy city gymnasium. When the First World War began, he became a Sich Rifleman of the Ukrainian Galician Army. Fate decided to go to one of the camps in Poland. After his release he went to work for a sugar factory in the city of Proskurov (now Khmelnitsky). In 1933, he was arrested and sent to a concentration camp, where he died in the same year.

Vsevolod's mother was a teacher of Russian language and literature. After experiencing her husband's death, she moved with her son to Kiev. After the arrival of the fascists in the city, she opened an underground school. When the time came, she had a son to study at the Ukrainian school. And when he finished the fourth grade, the Second World War began. For obvious reasons, he could not continue studying at school, and the whole grade 5 course was taught to him by his mother. After Kiev was liberated, Nestayko went to the sixth. Studying in the 8th grade, I mastered the program of the ninth by myself and then passed the material externally, passed into the tenth. Starting out of school, Nestayko received a silver medal (in the certificate was only one-four - in physics).

Studentism and career

Nestayko Vsevolod Zinovievich after school became a student of the Kiev State University named after TG Shevchenko. During his studies he worked at the Kiev Drama Theater as an extrasist. Along with studying at the University, Vsevolod Nestayko (biography has now finally turned into a creative channel) became an employee of the magazine "Dnipro". And then worked for five years as a literary editor and proofreader in the children's magazine Barvynok.

As Vsevolod Nestayko himself admitted (the writer's stories are quickly found the key to the heart of his reader), the main role in shaping him as a writer was played by the department head of the journal Irina Isaevna Shkarovskaya. Also in "Barvinka" worked the daughter of another famous Ukrainian writer - Ostap Vishny. Then came the publishing house Molody. Since 1956, he became the head of the department. The editorial office in Veselka, where he worked until 1987. During this period he joined the CPSU, where he was thirteen years old and left it simultaneously with Oles Honchar.

Vsevolod Nestayko: books

His future career as a cult Ukrainian writer-storyteller began at the age of eight. The story of a brave hunter chasing a Bengal tiger in Africa, very amused his mother. His early stories he began to publish in "Barvinka" and "Pioneer". And in 1956 the first book of the writer "Shurka and Shurko" was published, which immediately won the hearts of readers.

But the real popularity of the author was brought by the book "In the Land of Sunny Bunnies" (1959). Anatoly Kostetsky, a friend of Vsevolod (also a children's writer), loved to remember the birth of this tale. In one clear morning Vsevolod had a sunny bunny. He sat on the tip of the writer's nose and tickled his cheeks, brushing out freckles diligently. Waking up, Nestayko felt an unusual surge of happiness and joy and immediately began writing a good story about these same rabbits.

In total, Vsevolod Nestayko (biography of a writer who is fond of millions of readers deserves a separately written book) wrote a huge number of children's stories, fairy tales and even plays for his creative career. The most famous are "In the Land of Sunny Bunnies", "Toreador from Vasyukovka", "Incredible Adventures in the Forest School", "Five with a Tail", "Mysterious Voice Behind the Back", "The Secret of the Old Clown" and others. All these stories have won the boundless love of young readers and their parents, and the author confidently occupies the honorable first places in the list "Favorite children's writers of Ukraine".

Everyone's favorite book

Perhaps, it is impossible, not studying the life of the writer, not to dwell on the book, or rather the trilogy, after the release of which the name Vsevolod Nestayko (the biography of the writer was now interested in fans as well as his books) remains on hearing in many generations to this day.

The idea of writing this story was born to the writer after the artist-illustrator who designed his books told the story of how two schoolchildren lost their way in corn groves and found a way out only thanks to rural radio. History with some changes was played in the story, which was called "The Adventures of Robinson Corn".

The first part has undergone considerable processing of the author. Readers of the Russian translation of the book met only after the new edition. However, later in the novel there were references to remote scenes (for example, about a trip with a class on an excursion to Kiev, as well as burial of a pharaoh in a pyramid of watermelons).

In 2004 the children's publishing house "A-BA-BA-GA-LA-MA-GA" releases the last version of the trilogy novel. On the advice of Ivan Malkovich Vsevolod Nestayko edited some ideological moments that will be incomprehensible to the current young generation, adding some funny episodes and stories.

Screening

I got my favorite book and my place under the "cinematic sun": the Kharkov television studio in 1965 released a short film based on the first chapter of the novel. The humorous television film enjoyed incredible popularity, not only in the territory of the former USSR, but also far abroad. And even participated in international film festivals.

And as for the book itself, it is included in the modern Ukrainian school curriculum. And continues to enjoy success with reading children, not to mention parents, grandfathers and grandmothers ...

Return to childhood

We always want to plunge into this light and magical, with the taste of my mother's pies and grandmother's jam. Run again over the puddles. Or, tracking down your neighbor (after all, he is exactly a foreign spy!), Get lost in corn ... Return again to where there were so many discoveries and adventures ahead of us ... This is exactly what Vsevolod Nestayko gives us. His biography can not boast of a cloudless and happy childhood, but each time the author with pleasure returns us there on the pages of his books, generously endowing with magical, ridiculous and simultaneously touching stories.
