"Voltaren" is a plaster that relieves pain in the back, muscles and joints. Instructions for use

"Voltaren" (plaster) is a remedy with diclofenac, which relieves pain in the joints, back, muscles. This is the first plaster, which is not a medical device, but a medicinal product.

pharmachologic effect

The medication is a tissue base on which an adhesive layer containing diclofenac-NSAIDs has been applied for dozens of years used for medical purposes to reduce soreness, stiffness and swelling in inflammatory arthropathy, osteoarthrosis, rheumatism and trauma to soft tissues, back pain. The active ingredient inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins, so that significant anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects are achieved. At the place of application, the pain syndrome is eliminated, the swelling associated with the inflammation process is reduced. Also, Voltaren (plaster) significantly increases the pain threshold (in this regard, its effectiveness is better than using the patch "Indomethacin", which is confirmed by the reviews).

Pharmacokinetics

Diclofenac, which is present in the adhesive layer, stably penetrates through the skin to the source of pain within twenty-four hours. The concentration in the muscle tissue of the active ingredient when using the "Voltaren" patch will be the same as when applying Voltaren Emulgel gel. Therefore, we can say that these drugs are bioequivalent. 99.7% of diclofenac binds to serum proteins, including 99.4% of albumin. The half-life of the active substance is one to two hours. The half-life of metabolites is one to three hours. Excretion is mainly carried out with urine.

In patients with impaired renal function, there is no accumulation of diclofenac and metabolites. In people with uncompensated cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis, the metabolism and kinetics of the active component occur in the same way as in people who do not have liver diseases.
