VAZ 21074 - the legendary model of the domestic car industry

The car VAZ 21074 belongs to the class of budget sedans. It can rightly be called a legend of the Soviet car industry. After all, the history of its production begins almost from the moment of creation of the Volga Automobile Plant. Probably everyone is familiar with this model of VAZ and more than once saw it.

Production start

This car has some similarities with the VAZ 2105 "five". In fact, the "seven" was a luxury version of the fifth model. Serial production of its progenitor started in 1980. Exactly two years later the Volga plant introduced the Russians to a new model 2107, which was immediately nicknamed the "seven". It became a kind of Russian Mercedes, according to the car owners themselves. And indeed, at that time it was the most prestigious car (not counting the "Volga" and "Seagull") throughout the USSR. The novelty was created on the basis of VAZ 2105, which, in turn, was "licked" from the foreign "Fiat" 124-th model.

In the last decade, the brainchild of the Volzhsky car industry is equipped with an eight-valve gasoline engine with a volume of 1.6 liters. It complies with all norms of the ecological standard EURO 3. For the entire period of its existence (30 years) the car still remains one of the most popular on the territory of the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Belarus. The car can boast of its considerable ground clearance of 17.5 centimeters (not every sedan owns such parameters of patency). This model can be fully used as an SUV. Cheap and maneuverable - it can be considered the real dream of any driver.

Interior and appearance

The main elements by which you can distinguish the "five" from the "seven" - a large chrome grille, a bumper with a chrome trim, a specific form of the hood and slightly modified trunk. Also the car has halogen headlamps of far and passing light. The interior became more comfortable and interesting - all the details underscore the solidity of the car (not without reason it was nicknamed the Russian "Mercedes").

The first thing that catches your eye is comfortable adjustable seats with headrests. The dashboard is now more functional and informative - the arrow of a tachometre and a speedometer on 180 kilometers per hour is added. Although this speed it certainly does not develop (perhaps, the designers wanted to give the novelty some sportiness, assuring buyers of excellent speed). But in practice it turns out differently - the motor is able to develop a speed of 90-100 kilometers per hour. However, this is quite enough for long trips. A few words about the cost

It is worth noting that Volzhsky Plant did not develop additional equipment for 30 years. There is only one complete set - the standard (one for all). The cost of the car in 2012 is about 170 thousand rubles (the car was withdrawn from production in 2012). In the secondary market, you can buy VAZ 21074 for 40-50 thousand rubles. Low price is the key factor that influences the popularity of the model.
