Tremor in the newborn

Tremor in a newborn is manifested at the age of up to one month in the form of jerking the chin and pens, in rare cases, the legs. In combination with hypertension of muscles, he points to the increased excitability of the child and the immaturity of the nervous system. Tremor in the newborn is noted in half the cases. Usually, this condition is observed with increased excitability, for example, during fright, crying, and also in the phase of fast sleep, with the eyes of the baby often twitching. Such manifestations in the early period after birth are considered normal, but the detected tremor in a newborn indicates the need for consultation with a doctor.

During crying, there is a complex excitation in the nervous peripheral system, which is aimed at stabilizing the state. Tremor in a newborn during crying, characterized by frequent intensity and small amplitude, is considered a physiological feature characteristic of the nervous system of the baby.

Quite natural, according to experts, are considered minor frequent twitching during the first two days. In such cases, the state of excitation of the immature nervous system appears. The large amplitude of rare contractions in many cases manifests itself throughout the week, no longer. Subsequently, such manifestations are possible during the excitement or scream of the baby, in a state of hunger and during a fast sleep. Such phenomena last no more than three months from the moment of birth.

To the causes of tremors include an excessive amount of norepinephrine in the blood. This hormone of the adrenal medulla performs the function of transmitting nerve impulses.

More susceptible to tremor are premature newborns. This is due to the underdevelopment of their nervous system.

The development of reductions can be facilitated by absolutely any factors associated with impairments in the normal nervous development of the fetus. For example, hypoxia affects the prenatal period or the birth process, disrupting the brain. To the causes of origin include mild generic activity, placental abruption, umbilical cord entanglement and so on. Stress experienced by the mother during pregnancy, as well as birth trauma, certainly adversely affect the further development of nervous systems (peripheral and central). These factors provoke a lack of incoming oxygen in the brain of the fetus.

To prevent the development of the disease, it is recommended that a visit to the pediatric neurologist is recommended (especially in the so-called critical periods when the nervous system is more prone to failure).

Tremor: treatment

In a newborn, emerging twitching during crying, fright or fast sleep is considered the norm and does not need therapy. As a rule, with the age and strengthening of the nervous system, such manifestations pass.

Caused or intensifying tremor in newborns

Treatment in such cases is aimed at restoring the nervous system of the child. In this case, the children's doctor, as a rule, prescribes therapeutic massage, therapeutic gymnastics, swimming.

The choice of therapy is usually based on the clinical form and the specific cause that caused the disease.

Detection of bouts of jitters over a long period indicates serious disorders in the nervous system. In some cases, surgical intervention may be prescribed (if conservative methods are not effective). However, this, of course, takes into account the patient's age, clinical manifestations of the condition. The result of the operation is usually positive. At the same time, there is a stable and significant decrease in the severity of distortion or jitter.
