The rolling stock is the future of the country!

The concept of "rolling stock" can be attributed to all units of technology involved in freight traffic or passenger turnover on the railway network. Rolling stock of Russian Railways includes wagons of various categories, locomotives. It is divided into special purpose, passenger and freight trains by kind of transportation.

The following PS classification can also be cited:

  • Traction: locomotives (electric locomotives, locomotives, diesel locomotives).
  • Non-self-propelled: wagons (platforms, gondola cars, grain trucks, cisterns, etc.).
  • Motor-car: metro, electric trains, motor-cars.
  • Composition of specials. Destination: cars on the self-propelled gun, trolley.

The creators of the transport under consideration are machine-building enterprises of the country and abroad, locomotive and car building factories, and metallurgical plants.

The first cars in Russia began to be produced in the middle of the 18th century. As an independent industrial branch, car building is allocated by the mid 40s of the 18th century. At that time, the construction of the Moscow-St. Petersburg railroad began, and it was for the construction of cars for this road in Leningrad that the state-foundry-mechanical Alexander Plant was separated.

The main railway feature of that time was that the rolling stock was more likely to carry people. As a rule, wagons were built for passengers traveling in a suburban destination. They did not have toilets, cupboards and even berths, only seats.

The first cars were biaxial, the frame and body were made of wood. Their connection was chained. The rolling stock for the carriage of passengers of that time was significantly different from the modern one.

The next impetus for the development of the railway industry was the transition of Russia from feudalism to capitalism through the reforms of 1861. Since 1863, the production of wagons with the use of a biaxial construction began.

In 1859, at Alexandrovsky plant appeared the likeness of a modern gondola car - an open wagon, as well as a powder truck and a wagon for explosives.

At the same time, due to the need to move perishable goods (food, mainly), an isothermal car park appeared.

In 1875, an order was issued by the Ministry of Railways (MPS), which referred to bringing all covered wagons to the same type of "normal size" (6400 * 2743 millimeter). This was dictated by the size of military equipment and the mass transportation of troops.

Since the second half of the 90's. There was an increase in industrial production, which led to the expansion of the construction of railways, the rolling stock again gained innovation. The need for wagons for the transportation of bulk cargo was growing. The production of such increased at times.

In 1880, in the vicinity of the village of Bolshie Mytischi began to build a car building plant Mytishchinsky.

In 1896 the construction of the Verkhnevolzhsky plant for the construction of wagons began.

In 1897 he was reborn in a car building factory for the production of cartridge boxes, camp kitchens and phaetons.

And so in the open spaces of the country there were factories with only one purpose - to create a perfect rolling stock capable of satisfying the state's transportation needs.

At present, the number of cars and locomotives can be called sufficient for the country, but the technical state of these should be well thought out. One thing is very gratifying: the construction of such equipment since its inception has not been interrupted for a year.
