The main attractions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Neum, Sarajevo, Mostar

Little Bosnia and Herzegovina is not quite deservedly lost among its more famous Balkan neighbors - Croatia and Montenegro. And although this country is not so popular, in the tourist plan it is very interesting, and in some things even surpasses neighboring countries. What are the attractions of Bosnia and Herzegovina worth seeing, and what can this state offer?

Tourist Bosnia

Recently, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been increasing its status in the tourism world, becoming more and more tempting for travelers. For a long time, tourism in this country was hampered by the echoes of the Bosnian war, as many were afraid, perhaps, of the cooled conflict between the Muslim and Christian worlds. In addition, the tourism industry itself was not very developed by the government. For tourists of the CIS, this, first of all, was reflected in an uncomfortable transport communication and visa regime.

Now all conflicts are forgotten and the two cultures peacefully coexist within one state. The visa for representatives of the CIS countries is now not required until 30 days, and flights are organized much more conveniently. The sights of Bosnia and Herzegovina want to see more and more people. The country is confidently developing its tourism potential.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: attractions

The desire of the state to take a worthy place in the list of tourist countries is noticeable. Among the most hospitable and friendly places to tourists, Bosnia and Herzegovina was placed on the eighth point.

All the sights of Bosnia and Herzegovina include cultural, architectural monuments, natural riches, and sometimes all together. In such localities as Yajce, Blagaj, Stolac, Blidinje, you can observe incredible natural-architectural ensembles.

Many sights of Bosnia and Herzegovina are planning to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Some architectural monuments were built in the time of Byzantium and the Ottoman Empire. In the town of Pochitel there are the remains of an ancient settlement dating back to the 14th century. There are also more than 20 ancient castles and fortresses in the country.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Neum

There are no sights as such in this city. But there is a good infrastructure. The prices here are Bosnian, and the species are Croatian, so why pay more? This is the only city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, due to a historical coincidence, has access to the sea.

Warm subtropical climate, the sea, excellent landscapes - these are the main advantages of Neum. This is a resort town, here you can enjoy a lot of pebble beaches, hospitality of local residents and quite a good service.

In the city there are many tourists passing by transit to Croatia, and since the prices here are much lower, then everyone prefers to make purchases in Neum. This is a significant part of the city's profits. Many Croats living near the border, too, come here to buy.

Sarajevo

The main and one of the most interesting cities that Bosnia and Herzegovina boasts. Sights of Sarajevo have to be looked for everywhere, especially in the old areas. Here you can feel an amazing mixture of Islam, Catholicism and Orthodoxy. In the Old Town there are a lot of small winding streets, cozy squares on which souvenirs are sold, unique products made of metals and sweets to match the eastern one. From the main streets must necessarily turn into inconspicuous lanes, there will certainly be a hidden from the eyes of the area with a separate microworld.

Feel yourself as a visitor to the 16th century trading floor in Bezhistan. This is the historic district of the city, where one of the largest living rooms used to be located, next to which were located shopping arcades. Above the city there is the fortress of Byela Tabia, built in the same century as the guest house.

One of the most unexpected attractions is the pyramids. They were discovered only recently, not far from Sarajevo. According to archaeologists, the pyramids may be older than Egyptian, and now there are excavations. Excursion can be spent to you by the same archaeologists or any local resident.

The old bridge in Mostar

The amazing city of Mostar is located on the banks of the Neretva River. Across the river stretches the main attraction of the town - the Old Bridge, which connects the Muslim part of the city with the Croatian one. The old bridge, like many of the sights of Bosnia and Herzegovina, dates back to the times of the Ottoman Empire. It was destroyed in 1993, but later resumed and attributed to the UNESCO heritage. Now the building serves as a symbol of the revival of peace and tranquility in the country and has great value for local residents. Every year a festival of jumping from the bridge is held here.

In the city there are several beautiful and quite old mosques, which must be seen. From the bank of the river there are excellent views of the old architecture. Many buildings suffered during the war, so far in the walls of some buildings you can see bullets.

Conclusion

The main attractions of Bosnia and Herzegovina belong to the times when these lands were under Turkish rule. The country impresses with its landscapes, amazing landscapes, in which the ancient buildings are miraculously inscribed. Sarajevo and Mostar - the most touristy cities that conquer beauty and color, and the city of Neum allows you to have an inexpensive rest by the sea. Every year, Bosnia and Herzegovina is eager to visit more and more travelers.
