Carp is one of the most popular and widespread fish species of the carp family in Russia, and throughout the world, probably. Some experienced fishermen consider it, so to speak, a "weedy" fish, unworthy of close attention of an inveterate fisherman. But for a beginner a good copy can become a real trophy. After all, the largest carp reaches at times three kilograms of weight or more. So there is, as they say, what to work on the neophyte fish business. It has a dense body, high enough at the top. The back is thick, wide, and the dorsal fin is long. Scales smooth and large, quite well scraped. There is a silver and gold variety, however, according to scientists, color largely depends on the habitat of the carp. The length of silver rarely exceeds 40 centimeters. Weight - up to 2 kilograms. Gold - a little more than that: an average of 50 cm, up to 3 kg. But there are sometimes even larger trophies - the largest carp. And in many ponds, you can immediately see both varieties of this fish. It is characteristic that crucian is often found in marshy and low-lying reservoirs, but in mountainous - much less often.

The largest crucian in the world

According to some sources, it was caught by M. Locke in the county of Kent (Great Britain) in the autumn season. Fishing took place on the bait. Martin, having thrown it, has left to have a rest in tent. And some time later he heard the bell ringing, warning about the bite. Running out of the hiding place, Locke began to unwind the tackle. The extraction on that side of the forest was too heavy, and the fisherman had to make maximum efforts. At first he even thought it was just a hitch. But on the movements from side to side, Martin realized that the hook was a real trophy. The result of the "match": a crucian was dragged ashore, the size of which was simply amazing, and the weight was 42.6 kilograms! After measuring and weighing, the fish was released back to the aquatic environment.

Unfortunately, the picture of the trophy was not made or was lost. Therefore, it is not possible to say exactly whether this was really all. But to argue that this is a complete nonsense, too, is not worth it. Let it be better that history will remain in the line of traditional fishing.

But officially there are documented the largest carp in Russia. One of them was caught by Ivanov in Lake Osyno. The weight of the fish was 5.5 kg. Such huge individuals for this species, as a rule, are much harder to catch than those that are smaller, since they are very cautious and prefer to lead a secretive way of life. And their favorite "places of rest" are the quietest and deepest water reservoirs.

The bait can be taken as standard: the dung worm, bloodworm, maggots, dough, mango, pearl barley. Well, the crucian is corn. Make sure that the bait does not slip off the hook.
