One of the largest cities in the Russian Federation, which is one of the twenty largest Russian regions, is Novosibirsk. History of Novosibirsk

On the territory of the modern city in the beginning in 1803 the Novonikolaevsky settlement was founded, named after St. Nicholas. Subsequently, in 1903, he received the status of the city and the current name - Novosibirsk. The number of its population in those years was approximately at the level of eight thousand people, and since that time it has increased approximately 180 times.

The city is built on the territory of the Priobskoe Plateau, located in the valley of the Ob River, near the reservoir, which appeared as a result of the construction of a hydroelectric power station.

After a long period of decline, the population of Novosibirsk, at last, began to grow and reached the level that corresponds to 1993. For the first time in a long ten years, the process of the outflow of residents from the city was stopped. Only in the last year, 2015, the number of residents has increased by 21 thousand people and now is equal to 1 million 567 thousand people.

In the years 2009-2010. The main share of population growth was brought by migration processes, thanks to which the number of the city of Novosibirsk increased.
