The flag of Sudan: view, meaning, history

Many countries emerged only after the middle of the twentieth century. This is not an exception. The national flag of Sudan, photos of which are familiar to all who are interested in Arab countries, appeared only in 1970. The country gained its independence and the name of the Democratic Republic. The flag of Sudan has remained unchanged all this time.

The standard differs in the traditional form of a rectangle, which is characteristic for almost all existing symbols. The parties relate to each other in a two-to-one ratio, which is less common. The flag of Sudan is covered with three horizontal stripes of the same size. They go in the following order - first red, then white, and then black. At the pole is placed an isosceles triangle of a dark green hue. All colors used on the panel are typical for many other powers in the region, which unites Sudan with its neighbors.

Value of colors

Red color is a reminder of the severe struggle for sovereignty and blood shed by patriots in the battles for independence. This is the traditional meaning of the shade, which is found in both European and Asian heraldry. White color is a sign of the peaceful nature of the state and the desire for equal relations with all other countries. Black serves as a symbol of the country itself - the name Sudan means in translation from the Arabian "power of blacks". The triangle, executed in a saturated green color, is a sign of the Islamic religion, which is practiced almost 100% of the population of the state, which is typical for the Arab region where it is located. In addition, it also serves as a symbol of landowning traditions, which have been of great importance for many centuries. The same shades are used on the coat of arms, which is an image of a black secretary bird on a white background, which holds a red shield on its chest. Under it there is an inscription of green color - this is the name of the state, made by Arabic script. Above the arms, the motto of the country is depicted in the same way.

History of appearance

Initially, they used a cloth of blue-yellow-green color. It was even officially approved in 1956, when the country became free of British and Egyptian forces. Such a flag of Sudan had an interesting meaning. The blue band from above served as a symbol of the main African river - the Nile. It is of great importance to all Sudanese. The yellow strip depicted the Sudanese deserts, covering most of the country's territory. In green, Sudanese portrayed a fertile land that provides them with an opportunity to farm.
