And then on Christmas Eve Alice tells her husband that she has sexual fantasies, and she presents herself to another man. For her husband, it was a shock, he did not even know how to react to it. But it pushed him to the idea that it would be really good to diversify his sex life. And only he decided to do it, as in his life different strangenesses began to occur. For example, he gets to the carnival, where everyone is dressed in holiday costumes and speak an incomprehensible language. But what is this? Reality or fantasy? Is it a dream or a dream?

Stanley Kubrick does not answer these questions and offers viewers this frank dramatic story to judge this on their own. This is the beauty of the understatement: everyone makes a conclusion himself and gets the urge to reflect on the film after watching.
