The Clauber Bowl with the X-ray of the abdominal cavity

When there is a suspicion that the patient has intestinal obstruction, an instrumental study is needed that helps not only to diagnose, but also to determine the causes of the disease. One of the signs of intestinal obstruction is the Clauber Bowl.

Definition of intestinal obstruction

Symptoms of intestinal obstruction are simple: with the disease, food can not pass through the intestinal tract due to mechanical obstructions or impaired intestinal work. The main symptoms that a person experiences are:

  • Bloating;
  • constipation;
  • Nausea or vomiting;
  • Bursting pains in the abdomen, sometimes giving in the back.

Most often, the obstruction is a consequence of changes in diet, the appearance of tumors, polyps, or violations of intestinal motility. To determine the disease, you need to make an ultrasound of the digestive tract.

X-ray examination

At the slightest suspicion of intestinal obstruction, it is necessary to do an x-ray of the abdominal cavity. To begin with, they make only an overview fluoroscopy, in which certain symptoms can be diagnosed. X-ray is the main method of research of the intestine.

There are 5 main signs of intestinal obstruction:

  • Intestinal arches;
  • Clauber's bowl;
  • Absence of gases in the gut;
  • Transfusion of fluid from one loop of the intestine to another;
  • Striation in the transverse direction.

More about the Bowlboy Bowls

Consider the cups of Klauber on the roentgenogram in more detail. If such bowls are found in the picture, you can see bloated areas of the bowel filled with liquid in a horizontal position (the patient is in a vertical position) and with gas. The gas is above the liquid, on the x-ray it is shown by a picture in the form of an inverted bowl. Detection of foci in the form of bowls is manifested only in the case when the x-ray is done in the vertical or lateral position of the patient.

Usually, with intestinal failure, not one Bowlera cup appears, there are a lot of them, and they are located in the area of the small intestine loops, approximately in the center of the abdominal cavity. It is noteworthy that the width of the liquid in the bowl should exceed the level of the height of the gases. Bowls can be of various sizes, while maintaining the proportionality of height and width.

The manifestation of many small foci indicates that a significant amount of fluid accumulates in the small intestine. They are extremely rare as a sign of a large bowel obstruction.

Treatment of intestinal insufficiency

First of all, you need to determine the diet. To begin with, you must strictly follow the diet and not overeat. Overeating leads to the fact that the symptoms of insufficiency can worsen, especially if it occurs after a long break. Next, you need to give up food, which leads to gas formation. To such food it is possible to carry a string bean, peas, soybeans, cabbage and other similar products. It is best to eat more often, but in small portions, this will prevent overeating.

Begin treatment with more humane and conservative ways: enemas, removing the contents of the stomach, the introduction of special solutions on the crystalloid base in the body, as well as the introduction of protein preparations. With advanced and severe forms, surgical intervention is performed.

Compliance with diet after surgery

After the x-ray of the abdominal cavity is made, the doctors determine whether it is necessary to carry out the operation or to confine oneself to conservative means. In the case of a surgical procedure, after the operation, the patient should not eat or drink for 12 hours. In order to enrich the body with nutrients, doctors use a probe or droppers with glucose. After this, it is necessary to eat only liquid nutrient mixtures before switching to another food.

Then follows the zero diet. The meaning of it is that you need to take only light food, which is quickly digested and does not contain salt. Eat at the same time 6-8 times a day in very small portions, and the calorific value of the entire daily diet should not exceed 1020 calories. Also, you can not eat something cold or hot, all foods should be at room temperature and in a jelly-like form.

Bowl of Kloyber is a terrible symptom, therefore at the first signs of intestinal insufficiency it is necessary immediately to go to the doctor and to spend a roentgen of an abdominal cavity.
