Technical characteristics of PSB-S 35. Heat insulation of walls with expanded polystyrene PSB-C 35

Among the heat-insulating materials, which have high water and vapor tightness, it is possible to isolate expanded polystyrene. The technical characteristics of PSB-C 35 allow using it even in places with a high level of humidity.

Material Features

Polyfoam is a white sheet with a small weight. If we talk about the non-press PSB-C, it looks like small balls connected together. It includes up to 98% of air. Despite this, the technical characteristics of the PSB-C 35 remain on top.

The abbreviation is as follows. The letters "PS" mean "polystyrene". The letter "B" - "non-pressing", "C" - "self-extinguishing". The numbers mean the maximum density. In this case, the specific gravity of the material is in the range 25-35 kg / m 3 .

PSB-C 35 is capable of withstanding high loads. In this case, the plate does not sag, does not move. Polyfoam does not absorb water. Due to this, it does not change its size and shape. Mechanical, heat-insulating and technical characteristics of PSB-C 35 do not change during the entire service life.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the positive qualities of the material are:

  • Steam resistance.
  • Does not absorb water.
  • Ecologically safe.
  • Prevents the development of mold and fungi.
  • Does not rot.
  • Does not react with acids, weak alkalis, alcohol and salts.
  • Does not react with the components of concrete mixtures and other similar building materials.
  • It is flammable, as it is treated with flame retardant.
  • It has a low weight.
  • It is convenient to work during installation (easily cut without dust).
  • Long operational period (over 35 years).

It has a PSB-C 35 plate and its disadvantages. They are few in comparison with merits. The main disadvantage of the material is its ability to release toxic substances during burning, which are very dangerous to human health. In addition, the foam is destroyed under the influence of solvents and materials based on bitumen. Styrofoam is a good habitat for rodents (mice, rats and so on).

Technical characteristics of PSB-C 35

Styrofoam is produced in the form of rectangular sheets of standard dimensions. Thus, the length varies from 900 to 5000 mm. And the increase in value occurs with an interval of 50 mm. The width is 500-1300 mm (step - 50 mm). The thickness of the material varies in steps of 10 mm and is in the range of 20-500 mm.

Among other technical data, there are:

  • Density is in the range of 25.1-35.0 kg / m 3 .
  • The material burns for less than 4 seconds.
  • Humidity is up to 12%.
  • For a day, the material absorbs no more than 2% of the volume.
  • The ultimate value of bending strength is 0.25 MPa.
  • The compressive strength is 0.14 MPa.

One of the main parameters that provides a wide range of applications is the ability of the foam plastic to retain heat. The thermal conductivity of PSB-C 35 is very low and is no more than 0.038 W / (m * K), which is typical for dry conditions.

Application area

Styrofoam PSB-C 35 due to its technical characteristics is perfectly suitable for use in regions with severe climatic conditions. With its help, the basement, the basement, the basement, the pipelines (and other communications located underground), the roofs (both flat and gable) are insulated. But the main field of application is the thermal insulation of walls and floors (including the heating system).

The material is used in a wide temperature range - from minus 200 to plus 85 degrees. In places with a very high temperature, the use of foam plastic is prohibited.

The foam is easily cut with a conventional knife in any direction. In addition, it reduces the level of vibration during transportation, thereby protecting the goods. Therefore, it is widely used as a packaging material. It is applied to packing of the breaking goods (from glass, ceramics), electronics and so on.

Manufacturers and prices

Among the most popular manufacturers supplying EPS-S-35 foam polystyrene to the Russian market, three companies can be distinguished:

  • "Mosstroy-31".
  • OOO NovoPlast.
  • CJSC "ET-Plast".

The quality of the material from these manufacturers is checked by time. The cost of 1 cubic meter of foam for each of them is 3300, 3300 and 3115 rubles, respectively.

Mounting Features

The thermal insulation of the walls will be fulfilled qualitatively, if we take into account a few simple moments. First you need to choose the right material. Do not buy foam, which is stored outdoors. Styrofoam must be white, without stains and burnt out areas. The plate is elastic and soft. Its balls are approximately the same in diameter.

Plates are mounted on pre-prepared surfaces. So, the walls need to be leveled and treated with a primer, which will protect against the appearance of mold (and fungus). To fix the plates use glue. Lay the sheets on the principle of brickwork, that is, between the three sheets, the seams form the shape of the letter "T". The glue should dry for a few days (depending on the weather).

After the glue has completely dried, the polystyrene foam is fixed by means of "umbrellas" (dowels with a very large bonnet). Initially, holes are prepared in which dowels are inserted. Inside drive umbrellas. Umbrellas-dowels choose plastic, as the metal passes the cold. This stage of work is carried out in order to improve the reliability of the connection between the wall and the foam.

The next step involves gluing reinforcing mesh. This is done with the help of an adhesive compound, which completely closes the mesh. The grid is rolled over the entire surface of the wall. Its individual parts fit in a lap. Particular attention is paid to the corners. The glue must completely hide the mesh. After it dries, the wall is sanded using sandpaper. The surface must be level.

Then put a layer of putty. After it dries, the wall is primed. On this surface is considered ready for the application of the finish coat. This can be paint, wallpaper and any other materials.

Styrofoam PSB-S 35 can be considered a universal material, which found its application as a heat and soundproof layer for the construction of buildings and structures for various purposes. The material is used in regions with different climatic conditions.
