Symptoms and treatment of osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine, cervical and lumbar spine

Static overload and hypodynamia - such conditions dictate modern life. Unfortunately, our spine is the first to get "under the distribution" - such rigid frames disrupt its nutrition and accelerate the process of degeneration, intervertebral discs wear out quickly, pains occur.

Osteochondrosis is a complex of dystrophic disorders occurring in the joint bones. The disease can develop in any joint, but the damage to intervertebral disks is more common. It is extremely important to timely treat osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine, cervical or lumbar, depending on the affected area. Let's talk a little more about the types of the disease:

  1. Osteochondrosis of the cervical spine. With this form of osteochondrosis, the vertebral artery is squeezed , which causes persistent headaches. Also, changes associated with this disease lead to the development of vegetative-vascular dystonia, migraine, vertebral artery syndrome, compression of the occipital nerve.
  2. Osteochondrosis of the cervicothoracic part. With this diagnosis, the spine section is affected, which is a transition from the cervical to the thoracic. At the transition site, a "hump" is formed, the presence of which makes it difficult to turn to the side.
  3. Osteochondrosis of the thoracic region. There is pain along the ribs, which occurs more often with deep breaths. The movement of the chest becomes minimal, therefore breathing is disturbed.
  4. Osteochondrosis of the lumbosacral department. For this type of osteochondrosis, painful sensations are characteristic that pass to the right or left buttocks from the back of the thigh. Often patients complain of numbness of the legs, the localization of which starts from the hip and ends with the toes.

Treatment of osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine (cervical or lumbar) will be much more effective if you establish and, if possible, eliminate the cause of the disease. The reasons that affected the occurrence of osteochondrosis can be several:

  • Heredity.
  • Age changes.
  • Heavy physical labor.
  • Metabolic disease.
  • Great burden on the spine (for example, schoolchildren, students are forced to sit for a long time sitting, more often wrong).
  • Sedentary lifestyle.
  • Obesity.
  • Injuries and microtrauma.
  • Drinking alcohol, smoking.

Treatment of osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine is no different from cervical or lumbar treatment. For any form of osteochondrosis, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, physiotherapy, and manual therapy are used. A great importance for the treatment and prevention of this disease is therapeutic exercise. However, with such diagnosis as osteochondrosis of the cervical spine, gymnastics must at first be conducted under the clear guidance of the instructor, so that the cervical nerves can not be clamped because of incorrect movements, the first symptom of this is flashing "flies" before the eyes.

Such departments as cervical and thoracic, suffer from dystrophic disorders much more often lumbar. Complex treatment of osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine, as well as cervical spine, involves changing the diet and eliminating excess body weight (if necessary). The main goal of treatment of osteochondrosis is not only to eliminate pain, but in a gradual increase in the motor capabilities of the patient.
