Suzuki Wagon R - super-economical Japanese city car for lanky Europeans

Many car manufacturers tried to make a successful city car, especially in Japan, where the whole country is an urban-type settlement, due to the large density of population. Judging by the sales in this country (and they only passed in 2008 for three million), Suzuki with the Wagon R model took the leading position in this field, not to mention India, where such a car by 2010 sold more than five million Pieces. Undoubted design and marketing successes include the fact that this car is licensed and produced in Japan, India and Hungary, as well as in other countries and under other brands, for example: Opel Agila.

The Suzuki Wagon R has been produced since 1993. Initially, the body of this model was equipped with one door from the driver, one luggage door and two passenger. Subsequently, such an original and recognizable design was abandoned, providing the car with a more or less standard five-door body. Why more or less? With the horizontal dimensions, which are standard for the "A" class cars, the body of the Suzuki Wagon R is stretched vertically - in height it looks like an "accelerator among peers", which is especially appealing to Europeans falling into such a car. The engine on the first models was a three-cylinder, the volume of 660 centimeters (cubic).

In 1997, Suzuki's Suzuki Wagon R Plus was added to the Suzuki lineup with a four-cylinder atmospheric engine and increased body size. Such cars were produced in Japan for Europe until 2000. Now the fifth generation Suzuki Wagon R is produced. The body of the new car was extended by 25 mm and another 11 mm raised the ceiling. At the same time, the weight of the car decreased by 70 kilograms, because of the "weight loss" of both the body and the engine. But the main distinguishing feature of the new Suzuki Wagon R is the impressive fuel efficiency, which is provided by three systems: Start-Stop, ENE-Charge and ECO-COOL. The three-cylinder engine with a volume of 660 cubic centimeters develops a power of 52 hp. And consumes at the same time 3.4 liters of gasoline per 100 km in city mode. Loaded on the engine generator feeds two batteries, one of which is habitually under the hood, and the other, in the form of a set of lithium-ion batteries, is hidden from the left side under the floor.

The battery under the battery feeds the starter, the headlights and, at times, the air conditioner, and the "underground" battery - an electric motor, tail lights, an audio system and sometimes an air conditioner. Both batteries have a recharging generator only when they are discharged below a certain level, at the rest of the time the generator does not load the engine. Also, for recharging both batteries, regenerative braking is used, that is, the "brake" the engine during the gas discharge by charging. If the speed falls below 13 km / h, the engine is muffled and a starter motor is running, which restarts the engine when the speed rises. When the engine is switched off, the air conditioner is also turned off, and the air cooling in the cabin is carried out by means of a cold storage battery that accumulates cold during the operation of the air conditioner. In general, a continuous economy on everything, on what it is possible to save. Suzuki Wagon R - the most economical and vertically "flattened" city car for those who are engaged in the gym, wants to see from the salon away and knows how to save money.
