Steklomagnesite (LSU): reviews

Magnesium-glass sheets (LSU, glass-magnesite, magnetite) - the material is quite new, but has already proved itself well in the market of building materials .

LSU reviews have different. The positive qualities of this material include high strength and ease of use. Glass-magnesium sheets can rightly be considered a replacement for drywall. Advantage of magnetite in front of GCR lies in a number of factors. LSU (reviews among consumers are mostly positive) are characterized by high strength and flexibility, light weight, resistant to low temperatures and chemicals.

Among all other advantages, one can distinguish a particular fire resistance - this material can withstand a temperature of 1200 degrees. LSU, whose characteristics we will consider in more detail below, produce a thickness of 4-12 mm and a sheet size of 2500x1200, 2440x1220mm.

Physico-mechanical characteristics

Color - white, cream.

The density of the material is 950-1000 kg / m³.

Swelling under the influence of moisture - <0.3.

The flexural strength is 10-22 MPa, depending on the thickness.

Impact strength - 5-7 kJ / m².

Sound insulation - 29-47 dB.

Frost resistance - ≥ 50F.

Refractoriness is a class of incombustibility "A".

Safety: there are no harmful substances in the composition.

Operation - service life of more than 50 years.

Glass-magnesite sheets are used for the device of interior partitions, suspended ceilings, finishing of columns. LSU (reviews of the finishers confirm this), in contrast to drywall do not need additional processing. After installing the plates, you can immediately begin to decorate the surface, whether it's wallpaper, paint or ceramic tiles.

Glass-Magnesium sheets are divided into three classes: Premium, Standard, Economy. Magnelite classes Premium and Standard differ significantly in their technical qualities from the sheets class Economy.

LSU of a higher class can be used both for interior works and for external work with subsequent finishing. Such a material has great fire resistance. Glass-magnesium sheets are popular for finishing pools, baths and saunas.

Glass-Magnesite of the class "Economy" is used only for the internal part in rooms with a minimum of humidity and insignificant temperature changes. When wet, it can secrete salt.

LSU reviews are negative. This is due to the fact that glass magnesium is a new material and not very common. Using this, unscrupulous suppliers used to often supply materials of inadequate quality, which served as a mistrust of this material.

How to distinguish qualitative glass magnesium from forgery? To begin with, it should be noted that large suppliers always work only with quality materials, as they value their reputation. Quality sheets have a beige or yellowish tinge. The edges of the glass-magnesite of poor quality are fragile and crumble. If possible, you can drop a piece of material into the water. If the color of the water has not changed - the material is of high quality.

Mounting of glass and magnesite

Mounting of LSU is practically the same as GKL mounting. The sheets are fastened to a metal or wooden structure using self-tapping screws used for moisture-resistant plasterboard. It is recommended to mount the sheets so that the fiber arrangement is vertical. This method of fastening will give the structure additional strength. It is necessary to leave a gap between the sheets. Its thickness should be equal to about half the thickness of the sheet.

When installing arches additional work, as in the case of plasterboard, will not be needed. The material is easily bent to the desired radius of curvature. Carrying out the finishing of the column with this material, it is more advisable to mount the sheets on the glue. At the final stage of installation, the gaps and fixing points of the putty are sealed.
