Spicy herbs and ways to grow them

Spicy herbs are used with great success in cooking. They give the dishes a delicious taste and, most importantly, flavor. In addition, their use will help reduce the use of salt and oil. In addition to the magnificent aroma, each spicy herb also has certain taste qualities. Do not forget about the vitamins, minerals and other useful substances that they contain. Therefore, many gardeners and truck farmers grow them on their personal plots and even in flower pots.

These plants can perfectly decorate any bed. In addition, freshly harvested herbs have useful properties.

In past centuries there was a tradition, according to which specially planted herb gardens. It was not only beautiful, but also practical. Some spicy herbs are also a natural remedy (savory). They were particularly active in China and, in general, in the East.

Planning the location of plants on the garden, you need to allocate a place for spicy herbs. They can be used as decorative elements. For example, recently, carpet flower beds have become especially popular. For their arrangement low-growing plants are used. In this case, spicy herbs are ideal.

They have a different color and texture, so you can create whole compositions. To form the flowerbed, use other plants in combination with herbs. For example, you can add thyme, rosemary and sage to a cat, roses or hibiscus.

If there is a pond on the site, then arrange the spicy herbs on its shore. You can supplement the composition with stones and plants that have long stems.

The most popular herbs are parsley, rosemary, coriander, basil, thyme. They are most often used in cooking. True gourmets appreciate their taste.

Among the spicy herbs, which have medicinal properties, they distinguish mint, oregano, celandine, St. John's wort, chicory, calendula. But some of them should be used with caution and in certain dosages.

There are also more exotic plants. For example, lavender, limonium, bovolia. These herbs, in combination with traditional, create unique flavors. They are successfully used in Provence.

When distributing plants on a bed, their color and texture must be taken into account. More colorful will look different shades of herbs. Some of them have very beautiful flowers (cucumber grass, red quinoa).

Herbs that have short, curly leaves are used to form curbs. This is suitable for curly parsley, savory, thyme, chervil. The last plant can give three crops per season, and only young shoots are used for food.

Annual spices are best planted on one garden bed (basil, dill, mustard). Some herbs are added to tea (lemon balm, oregano, mint).

The main thing when forming the beds is to take into account the features that each fragrant herb has. It is necessary that they do not interfere with the growth of each other. Climbing plants are planted near the fence. Herbs with high stems are planted in the background or in the center of the flowerbed, so that they do not interfere with the development of undersized plants and do not block them.

The order of planting the herbs is the same as for the cultivation of flowers. Curbs in such a flowerbed can be built from stones. It is also necessary to organize paths so that there is a convenient approach to the herbs. They can be laid with paving slabs. Some herbs grow to large plants. Therefore, they should be placed on the flowerbed with caution or planted separately.

In the absence of an infield, it is possible to grow spicy herbs in ordinary flower pots. Especially if they do not expand much and are a short mat. It is very convenient. Fresh herbs are always at hand throughout the year. In addition, they perfectly decorate any kitchen.
