A flower of rare beauty - rose Versilia

Today breeders from different parts of the world have created a variety of varieties of roses, each of which is unusual and interesting in its own way. The Versilia tea-hybrid rose has a rather rare, delicate peach-colored petals. Soft pink and warm orange shades, smoothly flowing into each other, add extra charm to these refined and elegant colors.

History of appearance

Hybrid rose Versilia was introduced in the south of France by NIRP International in 1996. Its name was given in honor of the city of Versailles, where in former times the royal residence of the French monarchs was located. Today it is one of the suburbs of Paris.

Rose Versilia: description

With a well chosen planting site and proper care, this flower throughout the season will delight you with its abundant flowering. The timely removal of faded roses will stimulate the appearance of new buds. Pretty compact bushes of Versilia roses - upright, strong and branched - can grow up to 120 cm in height and grow to a width of up to 70 cm. The brilliant and glossy leaves of this plant are painted in a deep dark green color, and on shoots there is a small number of spines . In spring it is recommended to cut off shoots by one third. Breeders stated that up to -15 0 C Versilia can hibernate without shelter, but in our conditions it is better to cover it, as well as rose bushes of other varieties. It is quite resistant to such "chronic" diseases as powdery mildew and black spotting. Additional measures for the prevention of plant damage to these diseases should be undertaken with prolonged exposure to unfavorable weather factors.

Flower Features

Rose Versilia is perfect for both garden decorating and cutting. On the strong and stable shoots of this plant, large goblet buds of classical shape are formed, which have a rather strong and pleasant aroma. As a rule, one bud grows on each stem, but sometimes it grows to five. These flowers have an average terryness flat center, surrounded by 30-40 petals. The inner petals are painted in a delicate pink-peach, and the outer petals are creamy-milky in color. The diameter of the blossoming buds reaches 12 cm. When growing outdoors, the timing of the beginning of flowering depends on weather conditions, but it usually starts from the middle of June and lasts until the first autumn colds. Flowers are quite resistant to wind and moisture and do not lose their appeal even after the rain.

When and where to put?

Rose Versilia, like any other tea-hybrid, prefers to grow on sunny, sheltered from strong wind, but nonetheless ventilated, places. The root system of the queen of flowers is sensitive to waterlogging, so if possible, it should be planted where the groundwater is deep. In southern regions, experts recommend planting seedlings of roses in autumn, but in the conditions of our central strip it is best to place them in the open ground at the end of spring, after the soil warms up.

Preparation for planting

By the time the young plants are planted in the open ground, the soil must be sufficiently warmed up so that the root system can adapt and actively develop. When choosing a place where a pink seedling is planned to be planted, it is important to remember that from any stationary object: a fence, walls of houses or outbuildings - it must be at least half a meter. This is important, since non-observance of such a distance can lead to overheating and overdrying of the root system. From other plants, the rose variety of Versilia is best planted, maintaining a distance of 30-60 cm.

We prepare the landing pit:

  1. Dig a hole about 60 cm deep.
  2. For the planting of one seedling, half the bucket of pre-prepared rotted compost or cow dung is mixed with the garden soil and we fill it half the prepared landing pit.
  3. Well spilled water.

We are planted in the ground

Before planting in the open ground, the seedling can be immersed in water for several hours in order for the root system to be saturated with water. Then, after inspecting the plant, you must remove very long or damaged roots. Straighten the roots and lower the plant in the hole, deepening for a couple of centimeters place of inoculation. We fall asleep a hole in a prepared mixture of manure or humus with garden soil and compact the soil so that there are no air layers at the roots. Around the seedling, we form a platen from the earth, so that during further watering the water remains in the basal zone. Planted plant should be abundantly poured under the root of warm water and cover with a film or a trimmed plastic bottle. A warm and humid environment under such a shelter promotes better rooting, and in case of a cold or recurrent frost with a rose nothing will happen.

Watering and top dressing

Tea-hybrid roses, including varieties of Versilia, should be watered infrequently, about once a week, but abundantly. In conditions of anomalous heat, you can do this more often, making sure that the soil dries at a depth of 7-8 cm. In autumn, the frequency of watering is reduced by shedding rose bushes once every two weeks.

Fertilize the queen of flowers you need quite often - 4-5 times a season. You can use special mineral complexes for roses or universal fertilizers for flowering plants. The plant reacts very well to the application of organic fertilizers, namely, overgrown manure. Experts recommend to make it as a part of the mixture. To do this, you need to fill one part of the mullein with three parts of water, add 1/2 tablespoon (15 g) of superphosphate and potassium sulfate. The resulting mixture is allowed to stand for about two weeks, after which 1 part of it is bred in 10 water and watered with a solution of rose bushes. To do this, dig out special circular grooves at a distance of 30-35 cm from the plant, first abundantly spilled water, and then pour in the prepared liquid fertilizer.
