Some animals of the north

The northern regions are characterized by harsh climatic conditions. Flora and fauna here are adapted to the external environment. Some animals of the north of Russia are listed in the Red Book. These areas are inhabited by polar bears, ermines and other inhabitants of high latitudes. In the coastal strip you can find walruses, narwhals and other marine mammals. Often wild animals of the north in search of food closely approach human habitation.

White bears

These animals of the north live twenty-five to thirty years. In their entire life, they give birth to about fifteen cubs. Bears feed on eggs, chicks, carrion, fish.

Blue whales

These animals of the north are considered the largest on the planet. The size of the whales can reach thirty meters, weight - one hundred and sixty tons, and the fountain that they release, can reach nine meters in height. These animals feed on the north small fish, crustaceans, krill.

Arctic fox

Arctic fox is a predatory animal. This species is common throughout the tundra. The fox can be white or blue. The polar fox lives near the water, digs the mink in the ground or in the snow. Arctic fox is omnivorous, within a year it brings about seventeen cubs.

Killer Whales

Ermine

This little animal resembles a petty caress. He has a triangular head, short paws. In winter, the fur of the animal is white, by the summer it becomes brownish-yellow. Narwhal

Walruses

These animals of the north are considered to be one of the largest pinnipeds. Fangs of walruses are like tusks. Animals have a very rare hairline, and the weight reaches one and a half tons. Walruses eat, as a rule, mollusks. In the summer, they form rookeries on the shore, in winter they can be found on ice fields.

Reindeer

This is a fairly large animal with an elongated body and short legs. Of the hair that grows on the neck, a beautiful mane is formed. In the herd, as a rule, one male and from three to thirteen females. The reindeer swims well enough, wanders in search of food. These animals feed on grass, shoots, lichens.

Sea lion

Sea lions are considered the largest species of eared seals. Hunting, they can dive to a depth of more than two hundred meters. Sea lions are covered with wool. Its color varies depending on sex and age.
