Sidewalk Tile - Rules of Laying Paving Tiles

Once, having arrived on a visit to the village, we were shown with great pride the path that the owner had laid out himself from the sidewalk tile. Immediately struck that frankly something is wrong. Tiles were not lying on the ground, even towering over it, close to each other. They just laid them on the ground - that's all! Where higher, where lower - in a word, the "snake" of the tiles not only wriggled along the path that had been traversed earlier, but it also towered over it, then fell lower. Thus, paving slabs require re-laying.

As a digression, I want to share my impressions, as a couple of years ago (and now too), walking along the central avenue of my city, it was not rare to come across places where the asphalt covering is changed to a new one - paving slab. It was necessary to very carefully bypass this place, since there was everything in the sand, and even deep enough to remove the layer of land on which the new cover was laid.

Now try to add these two "puzzles of life" into one picture, and we will get the answer to the question - paving slabs - how to properly stack it?

Having dealt with this issue thoroughly, I want to outline the recommendations and secrets of laying the paving slabs that were handed to me by specialists who not only knew how to do it, but also dealt with the production of paving slabs directly .

Now in more detail:

First, it is necessary to prepare a surface on which the tiles will be laid out. We remove the layer of turf by about 30 - 50 cm, and we must carefully tamp the remaining ground.

Secondly, we lay a mixture of sand and gravel - like a pie - two layers of sand, and in the center - crushed stone. Each layer is about 20 cm. It will be even better if the top layer of sand is with cement - 10 parts of sand, one part of cement.

Do not forget to carefully compact each layer of "stuffing", and maintain the slope, not large, but it is necessary for draining the water.

Now you can lay the tile itself. In no case do not lay the tiles tightly to each other. It is necessary to have a gap between the tiles for free passage of water into the ground. After laying out the paving slab itself, you need to fill in sand all the gaps between the tiles, and carefully pour water over the entire surface - this will help fix the mixture of sand and cement, and makes your coating durable and durable.

Also, more complex, in my opinion, but perhaps the most durable option is a version of paving tiles with a curb. It is installed after preparing all layers of the surface for the tiles in special concrete bases. Thanks to the curb, your path from the sidewalk tile does not exactly creep. That's all the tricks and complications. If you take into account these moments, then your cover will serve you for a long time with faith and truth.
