Disturbance of motor functions or Parkinson's disease

As is known, the brain and the central nervous system as a whole control not only all processes occurring in the human body, but also human movements. However, there is a group of people who do not have the ability to manage their movements in full, since they have Parkinson's disease . This disease is caused by a decrease in the level of one of the chemicals in the human brain, which is responsible for the motor functions. This substance is produced in insufficient quantities due to the death of nerve cells in the brain, which are a source of dopamine. Why nerve cells die, for today with accuracy it is not established.

More than two hundred years ago, medicine learned about a phenomenon like Parkinson's disease, the causes of its occurrence are unknown to this day. Moreover, this disease is prone to development, and can provoke the emergence of dementia. So, more than 30% of people who have this disease, suffer from dementia, which is expressed in the slowing down of thinking processes, memory impairment and inability to focus attention. The reasons for this can be a low standard of living and a lack of care for the patient. The disease begins to manifest with muscle trembling, increasing muscle tone, slowing movements and losing balance, disturbing articulation. As for the late stages of the development of the disease, it should be noted that patients begin to lose weight rapidly, as swallowing is disturbed, respiratory disorders also occur, and when immobilized for a long period of time, death can be observed.

To date, Parkinson's disease has several varieties:

- primary parkinsonism, called idiopathic parkinsonism;

- secondary parkinsonism, which includes vascular, post-traumatic and other types of disease;

- Parkinson's syndrome, observed in the presence of hereditary diseases of the nervous system.

Some medical studies have established that a low percentage of people with Parkinson's disease have close relatives who suffer from the same disease. However, considering the Parkinson's disease, the description of symptoms is present in those families in which several of its members are ill at the same time. Thus, it was not possible to establish a connection between the development of the disease and heredity.

Considering cases of the development of Parkinson's syndrome, medicine has found that most often the disease manifests itself at the age of about fifty years, after sixty years the disease is observed in 1% of people, over 80 years old - 4%, 10% of patients are people under the age of forty years. Also Parkinson's disease can progress in childhood, but, unlike adults, in children it proceeds slowly and has classic symptoms. It can be noted that this disease does not depend on the gender of a person, his social status and place of residence.

When establishing a diagnosis like Parkinson's disease, physicians conduct clinical observations of the patient, since to date no tests have been developed by the medicine that can establish this disease. Moreover, there are no medications that can cure such a disease, there are only medicines that only facilitate the course of the disease, and such treatment must be adhered to throughout life to prevent new manifestations of symptoms.

Thus, at present, there are many diseases that can not be cured and the reasons for their occurrence are not known to science. Among such diseases are isolated Parkinson's syndrome, characterized by impaired movement due to the death of nerve cells in the brain. Perhaps one day science will be able to explain this phenomenon, but to date, patients can only use drugs to reduce the manifestation of the symptoms of the disease.
