Shotgun IZH-12, 12 caliber: characteristics. Shotgun IZH: models

For today in shops for hunters it is possible to meet set of fine import guns. But there were times when the limit of each boy's dreams was Soviet guns Izhevsk plant. About one of these - IZH-12 - today and will be discussed. Let's find out what characteristics this double-barreled "vertical" has (one barrel stands above the other) and thanks to which it still serves the hunters immaculately. And help us in this technical data and reviews of real users.

Design

The gun is absolutely easy to disassemble into three main parts: the block of trunks, the receiver and the forearm. To do this, you just need to remove the forearm and take the locking lever to the side all the way. In the hands will be paired trunks and a receiver with lodges. The length of the trunks of 12 caliber is 720 mm. They have a chrome channel and a 70-millimeter chamber. According to the type of muzzle narrowing, one trunk belongs to the half-chops, and the second - to the chokes. The trunks of the IZH-12 gun (12 caliber), whose characteristics went ahead in comparison with its predecessor IZH-59 Sputnik, are connected to each other by interlock bars, in a vertical plane. The main problem of "Sputnik" was that during the shot the barrels were vibrating, and the accuracy of the shooting was doubtful. On the upper trunk there is a sighting bar and fly. In the lateral grooves of the shaft coupling, an ejector-extractor is installed on two barrels.

Barrel shoe

The barrel shoe is made of steel and has a deep cutout for placing the breech part of the trunks. On the lower side are two windows - for the front and rear barrels. Slant grooves for pushers are selected on the inner side walls of the barrel. Their back thorns act on the hammer pins during the opening of the rifle. The shield of the shoe has two holes located at an incline, for strikers. On the back of the barrel is a shank with a sear and a safety catch.

Locking mechanisms

This mechanism provides a strong connection of the block of barrels and boxes during the shot. It includes a wide locking bar with a spring, an axle and a direct lock lever. Locking in the gun IZh-12 (12 caliber), whose characteristics we are considering today, is single. It is carried out by hitting the strip into a transverse groove located on the rear hook.

Shock mechanism

Type of mechanism - trigger. The chimneys have a retreat, which is necessary in order for the strikers to retreat after the impact on the capsule behind the shield of the pad. The springs have a cylindrical spiral structure. They have enough power to ensure a reliable breakdown of the capsule, in conditions of negative temperatures, when many are already thinking about winter hunting.

Trigger and fuse

The trigger of the IZh-12 (12 gauge) shotgun , whose characteristics deserve respect, consists of: a base, a pair of searches and a pair of trigger hooks. The gun is equipped with special devices - interceptors, which exclude the possibility of a shot in the event of a detachment of the trigger from the platoon without pressing the trigger. It is noteworthy that until IZh-12 such mechanisms could be found only on expensive rifles. The fuse here is not automatic, but it does its job well - it tightly locks the whisper. Incidentally, in some cases, automatic fuses have been installed on the latest models of the gun. A smooth trigger / trigger can be used in the gun.

Lodge and forearm

The bed has a pistol shape and is made of beech or walnut, as is the fore-end, on which a deep trough is drawn. On some models put fore-end, which in the ranks of hunters is called "beaver tail". It has a more thickened shape, which positively affects the strength of the structure. Ergonomics of the bed deserves mostly positive reviews of hunters. Here everything is simple and clear, but at the same time reliable. Thanks to a good balance, the gun is easy to use.

Production and successes

In addition to the IZH-12 12 caliber, there was also a 16-gauge IZh-12 version. The characteristics of this modification do not differ in principle from the main character of our review. The main difference comes from the name - increased caliber. The IZH-12 gun was serially produced from 1963 to 1974. During this time the factory produced 312 thousand rifles. 129 thousand of them went outside the Soviet Union. Not only Soviet, but also foreign hunters highly appreciated the IZH-12 gun (12 gauge). The characteristics of the gun allowed him to achieve a high hit rate. The factory ensured that when firing a 75-cm shot with number 5 from a distance of 35 meters, the combat accuracy would be 52% from the lower trunk and 56% from the upper trunk. Also, the manufacturer gave a guarantee that the product "will live" at least 10 thousand shots.

IZh-12 in sport

It is worth noting that in those days in the Soviet Union was quite popular shooting, or rather, stand sports. Sports societies were preparing good shooters. In the sections, as a rule, inexpensive rifles were used, one of which was IZH-12. Caliber, characteristics, price, reliability are the main arguments when choosing weapons for the section. Beginning arrows with this gun without any problems received the 2nd and 3rd categories. On the trench stand, especially talented shooters with a gun IZH-12 even managed to get the first rank. However, on a round it was practically impossible for anyone. More expensive guns were not in all the circles and were given only to the most promising sportsmen.

IZH-25

Designers of the Izhevsk plant quickly responded to the need for sports sections in inexpensive, but accurate rifles for training. So on the basis of IZH-12 was designed a new gun - IZH-25, whose USM had one hook. The main designer of this model was the talented inventor E. Gubin. The gun had two modifications: for the round (index SK) and for trench (index CT) stands. The model has received recognition not only among beginners and amateurs. Such a master, as L. Gurvich and V. Gorelov, achieved with this gun high results in international and intra-union competitions.

Disadvantages of the IZH-12 gun

The main disadvantage of the gun is a continuous sighting bar, which makes the barrel heavier. And in the summer heat it heats up and causes above itself hot air vibrations, which prevents the shooter from aiming. The foreigh of the overloads sometimes crack. But this is normal for rifles, in which the fore-end has an integral, trough shape.

Now let us briefly consider other famous models of Izhevsk plant of 12 caliber.

IZH-18

For adherents of single-barreled guns from the early 60's to this day, the IZH-18 (12 caliber) model is being manufactured. The characteristics of the model are as follows: mass - about 2.8 kg; The length of the trunk is 725 mm; The length of the chamber is 70 mm for the old and 76 for the new models. On the trunk there is no aiming bar, there is only a fly. The chamber along with the barrel channel is covered with chrome. The gun is easily dismantled into three parts. The neck of the box is pistol. As a rule, the bed is made of birch or beech. The IZH-18 gun, apart from the standard 12th, can have other calibers. In this case, the weight of the gun and the length of the barrel will be slightly different.

IZH-58

This is a double-barreled horizontal line, which was produced in 1958. Some of its versions are produced today. Initially, the model was to become a small-caliber small-arms shotgun (20-28), but most of all serial IZh-58 (12 caliber) versions were produced. The characteristics of the gun allowed him to gain a weighty advantage in comparison with the models IZH-54 and IZh-57. The gun case was made of strong steel, which does not need to be thermally treated during assembly. Instead of numerous screws that require careful installation, pins are used in this model. And the complicated joining of the box in the box was replaced by a simple one. Plate springs have also been replaced - screw cylindrical. The trunk was connected with the breech part by means of a coupling joint.

Izh-27

The IZH-12 gun is no longer being manufactured, as is its second version - IZH-25. Instead of them, starting in 1973, a double-barreled vertical model IZH-27 (12 gauge) was launched. The characteristics of this gun differ from its prototype. The changes touched the shape of the fore and the bed, as well as the shape of the box at the junction with the lodge. And on this model a ventilated aiming bar was installed. This modification is produced at the Izhevsk plant today. There is also a special version of the gun, designed for bench shooters. It was called Izh-39.

Another model, based on the IZH-27 gun, is called IZH-27E (12 gauge). The characteristics of this version are distinguished by the presence of an ejector, which, if necessary, can be turned off using a single trigger, which provides alternate shooting (the lower barrel alternates with the upper one). Serial production of this modification began in 1970.

IZH-54

This model is a double-barrow horizontally of the intradermic type. The basic model, which was manufactured since 1949, was the IZH-49 gun. In 1954, he was replaced by the version of IZH-54 (12 caliber). Characteristics of the main indicators of the gun: the length of the barrel - 730 or 750 mm; Muzzle constrictions - standard parabolic; The length of the chamber is 70 mm; The diameter of the trunk channel is 18.5 mm. The trunks are covered from the outside with nickel or chrome. In some versions, chambers are also chrome-plated and the barrel bore. Locking the trunk is triple. USM is located on a separate base and includes a pair of trigger hooks. The forks have a return type and are cocked when the rifle is opened.

IZH-43

In 1986, the IZh-58 rifle was replaced by the IZH-43 double-barrow horizon (12 gauge). The characteristic of the model is similar to the prototype, except for some important design features. USM universal type allows each trigger to shoot from both barrels. The front hook fires in the sequence "right-left" trunk, and the rear - on the contrary. The mechanism also allows shooting in a simple way, when the finger is moved from one hook to the other.

Conclusion

The IZH-12 gun model became a serious step in the development of the production of domestic weapons for hunting and, later, sports. And, as the reviews of ordinary users show, this is really so. Soviet hunters remember this product as a reliable serial weapon with a vertical method of securing the trunks and quite an acceptable price. To this day, many continue to use the IZH-12 gun and are not going to look for a replacement. With especial frugality store model piece production or those that were made for export. Such a product in good condition on the secondary market will cost at least $ 600.
